I think the orb is great and that...generally people who don't know much about the game complain about RNG layer that it adds. Sure it's RNG but it's RNG that the average player will only benefit from.

What makes you think it will be so common that it will be cheap?

it has been stated that it will drop roughly as often as chaos orbs, but at the same time, you will not be able to sink multiple orbs into any one item the same way that you can with a chaos orb or, for those who like to bring up maps, chisels for that matter.

Also, corrupted gear will be much harder to sell than uncorrupted gear, and you only need one vaal orb to attempt to corrupt your level 20/20% gems! and how many of those do peopel have laying around anyway.

You will run out of items to corrupt before you run out of orbs unless you like to throw away currency. Some people even mention jewelry as the main use. But how often does rare ammys/rings/and belts drop? 3x as much as chaos orbs? 4x? 5x? Even so, how many of those that drop do you actually want to keep for any reason other than to vendor them.

As I said you will run out of corrupt worthy gear before you run out of orbs. These guys will be roughly the same value as 2 chance orbs each. That's my guess.
Why'd you have to take a funny thing... push it 1 point too far... and make it not funny anymore?

The Vaal Orb is the best orb to happen to the average player. It's too bad that GGG sux at explaining their own systems plainly. Basically, Vaal Orb is an Exalted orb that you don't need to be rich in order to use. Now it is entirely feasible to trans/alt/regal/vaal into a 3 modded item that's cheap and effective on the go. I don't see what the problem is. The fact that you can only use it once ensures that the value of the orb will never get out of hand inflating the cost of using them on your gear like say the fusion orb or chaos orb.

Vaal orb puts a chink in the glass ceiling between mirror worthy crafted items and items that ordinary humans tend to find as they play the game as you can take a pretty decent 140% phys damage 5L sword that you find and Vaal it into culling strike mod effectively making your sword a 6L.

This is wrong on so many levels its not even funny. Average players won't even see or touch one of these for a long time. Yes, Chris did say it drops as often as a Chaos orb. BUT, it only drops in vaal corrupted areas, and since they replace Large chests often, you'll find these probably around the same or slightly higher rate.

Now, Vaal Orbs ONLY drop in these corrupted areas. How often do you see a Chaos drop while running a normal area? Now, take that rate, and factor in how often you find Corrupted portals. Their not gonna be common, and more often than not their gonna screw up gear rather than help you any at all.

Furthermore, its gonna end up being another layer of RNG when crafting. These are honestly gonna be used most on maps and skill gems. "Average" Players won't be finding these, and the odds are stacked against you for getting anything useful out of them outside of maps and hoping to hit level 21 gems or 23% quality gems.

Lets not forget they also lock your gear as well, as well as having a chance to do "nothing".

Aaaand he's on probation.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Is this true???

There's no way... they ONLY drop in VAAL areas??

Man - ok now I'm back where I stood before on POE. I was thinking that it would be ok if they dropped same rate as Chaos but these will be more rare than Eternals and Exalts if what you saying is true. Can anyone confirm?
I never heard they only dropped in vaal areas
Pic made me lol. Thread is pointless, i don't understand advocating for a dumb down, spread sheet game in a game BASED around rng. What you want is what the devs purposefully avoided. It is like trying to talk a basketball team into playing cricket. You can just go play cricket, you know.
