Nah, the animations are the length they are for a reason. Shorten this, and the whole game would have to be rebalanced due to faster attack times.


Animation canceling actually has no impact on attack times, it just means you can start moving sooner.
I agree that animation canceling would be cool, but I don't agree that it's necessary.
Im gonna bump this. I really like to see this.

Pros:
-This will make PvP much more competetive and increase skill cap.
-It will also make kiting mobs as melee much easier if you know what you are doing.
-Easy to dodge projectiles. You dont need much hp/defence as you need now

Cons:
-Players who use projectile attacks/spells will get nerfed hard in PvP.(Introduce a support gem that locks projectile to target?)
-MOBA/ARTS players will pwn aRPG players in PvP for a few days.
-Mouse buttons will get worn-out
-aRPG players will rage. "Diablo 2 was blah blah..."


I belive it is a good addition to an aRPG but I have a little hope this will get implemented since;

-It is out of genre. "THIS IS NO ARTS/MOBA. GO PLAY DOTA/LOL YOU NOOB"
-Lots of coding for devs.
-It might require rebalancing pretty much everything(Not that everything is balanced right now)

So wait, you want to be able to end an animation early to allow you to move earlier, after you've attacked? Yeah no, that's just stupid. I thought you guys wanted a way to cancel the animation before the attack actually triggers.

I don't like that idea at all, just gonna make it a boring twitchy fast paced bleh.

What a sherlock, 5 pages of discussion and he just realized what this idea is all about, I even made a graph for dummies which emphasized things like FAIL AREA and EXTRA TIME, not to mention DMG DELIVERY POINT

Anyway I really hope this game will not be destroyed by casual players QQ like Diablo3 happened to be, PoE has huge potential but current combat system is just plain dull (not to confuse with customization system, it's ingenious) with flicker strike/whirling blades being a little exceptions but still could be more rewarding (this style of play looses big time to LMP/GMP+Chain ranged facerolls in terms of efficiency and safety <HC>)

Aaand that's why I despise casuals so much, they make no sense whatsoever, how is current combat system interesting and how it would become boring if animation cancel were introduced? Due to what measures slow = interesting and fast paced = boring?

I don't like this. And i am a DotA player btw. It's just one of those stupid things that make the game harder for people that don't know about animation cancelling.
You can just make animations shorter and it would help everyone.(= remove the extra time you put in your graph)

Definitely against. This is one of those "Do every 0.5 second, YOU WIN. Dont do? YOU LOSE." bullshit. Especially not in a game where they designed mana reservation especially so we players dont have to deal with this twitchy crap.

I'm going to go ahead and say that this is one of the reasons attack speed is a very defensive stat as well.
