Energy Shield passives
" wow, can any1 confirm that one? is that true that u can die from chaos damage even with CI? |

The CI keystone is hard to swallow now without the energy shield bonus. Either buff the smaller nodes quite a bit, or give us back at least 25-30% bonus to CI.

" I doubt there is some one courageus enough to go CI now with huge risk to just cripple character. So only developers may clarify weather am I right. Chaos innoculation gives immunity to chaos damage that meens you don't even recieve it. (prove energy shield still regenerates even though you have viper strike charges) What wow user probably wanted to say you can either collect chaos resistance to get it to 0 on highier difficulties or take CI. |

Just further to this i think 1 or 2 big energy shield nodes were replaced (one in particular was replaced with 16% chaos reduction) on the tree. I will probably try it out on my shadow but i get the feeling that CI is pretty much not worth the risk, it is especially not worth running across the tree like I did on my old templar build.

" This is the next thing that need to be implemented in the game to continue making it more awesome than other ARPGs. Transformable nodes. eg: Take Chaos Inoculation, and chaos resistance nodes transform into energy shield node buffs. There are alot of choices that could work like this, and of course the values need to be worked out. |

" Lets do the napkin math then, round out the numbers a bit, 600/1200 and 1200/2400, using 200 damage (Armor taking 100) and both with 2k hp Start of fight Armor - 2000 ES - 2000 + 1200 After 6 hits Armor 1400 ES - 2000 After 12 hits Armor - 800 ES - 800 After 16 hits Armor - 400 ES - Dead Tho of course this all assuming no healing, regen was involved and they had exact same hp Reality tho, Armor types will probably have more health than ES types, and both types would be chugging Flasks, but Armor + Flask has a better effect than ES + Flask |

" " Indeed, thanks for clarifying my misleading.

It wasn't replaced, it was moved further from start, and now resides just to the right of CI. Called unnatural calm btw. Anything else seems to be on it's former place.

Reality tho, Armor types will probably have more health than ES types, and both types would be chugging Flasks, but Armor + Flask has a better effect than ES + Flask You forgot that armor works only on physical attack. So with equal resistances ES build will sirvive longer. Anyway, I don't have the necessary numbers, so I'm out of this number-crunching discussion. But my bet ES is being buffed in next two big patches. Sorry for bad english grammar. I'm not a native english speaker. Feel free to correct me.

I'm finding it also exceptionally difficult to manage my energy shield cooldown. I assume the base is 6 seconds still, but i can only find 110% total cooldown reduction, which is way down from the 140 or 150% in talents from before.
This leaves me at about 3 seconds, rather than 2 seconds, a huge difference, and honestly i think the energy shield cooldown feels more like 7 or 8 seconds now. I would really love for it to be listed on the stats page of your character. At level 34 i feel like i was running around with about 1000 Energy shield earlier in beta, and i was still quite squishy. Now i've got maybe 330 and 200 or so health, i die far too easily even though i've put every single point i have into energy shield abilities. I'm too scared to pick up CI because i don't have enough energy shield to lose my health buffer. I think it's time for some flasks that restore energy shield or a talent that lets health recovery turn into energy shield recovery. Otherwise i can't see CI as a valuable path to take anymore, let alone energy shields in general. Before they were fine because late game you had 3k+ shields and you had enough evasion and block to tank a bit. Now i'm fearing later game difficulties considering how much i'm still dying late into act 3. I've spent all my points on energy shield passives, i shouldn't be this squishy. |

+1
I really wanted to build an ES Witch but its obvious its just not viable... With HP based characters, you get a truckload of HP, PLUS Hp regen, PLUS flasks A Marauder/Templar/Shadow by lvl 25 already has 700 HP easily, a Witch with full ES nodes has maybe 300 ES if youre lucky, and there is nothing you can do to replenish it other than waiting In short, it sucks |
|
" Actually, I remember base recovery time being nerfed from 6 to 9 seconds, you could look it up in the changelog if you want - it was the same patch where 15% shield recovery nodes were nerfed down to 10%. So no more former 2.5 seconds shield recovery with passives, best you could hope is probably about 4.5 seconds, and it requires plenty of nodes. For almost a year I've been watching PoE develop, and it was ES that was nerfed again and again and again :( " Indeed, you could've picked CI before as early as lvl 30 with fairly decent gear, and woudn't had lost anything. Now I'm afraid CI is a very late-game option. Sorry for bad english grammar. I'm not a native english speaker. Feel free to correct me.
