Weird FPS Drops to zero [Solved]

Hi, i recently formatted my pc and installed windows 8, since then i have been getting strange
FPS drops. Here is an example below

I don't know the exact specs of my pc off the top of my head, but i know it has:

Win8 64
Intel Core i7 960
2x ATI Radeon HD5870's
12 GB Ram

I checked my GPU temps when playing with v-sync on i get around 65-75 degrees
With V-sync off i get around 80 degrees but i get near 200 fps (and this still spikes to 0)

I do not have this problem in any other games. I have recently been playing Far Cry 3 at
1920x1200 on all high settings AA etc and it runs perfect.

I also use FurMark to test my GPU's and they are peaking at 85 degrees with 99% usage on both

Hopefully someone can help me, it is getting really close to Open Beta and this is the first
problem i have ever had with POE.

The only thing that has changed is the fact i have windows 8, so in the meantime i will try to re download/patch the game.

EDIT: It seems that removing the game and re installing fixed this problem, I have no idea how/why it was happening though lol. Thanks a lot and sorry if i wasted anybodies time :)

I didnt want to make a new post but im having exactly same problems with drops of fps its pretty annyoing. So far i noticed that it is happening in Act 2. As i remeber i didnt have any problems in closed beta.

I am playing in fullsrcreen window mode and trust me i tried different options in ingame graphic menu.

Same problem here with a radeon HD6970 card.
If there are more players it gets close to unplayable sometimes.

it happens to me too in ACT2 there is a monster that makes my fps drop really bad,a lighting one,it's rare(yellow) mod monster,after i kill it,the fps is ok.

I just wannna continue the topic till we cant find solution becasue reistalling game didnt help me. I also noticed that frames drops in death animation some of the mobs.Im having constantly fps drops in dunguon areas in Act 2.

all drivers are up to date

sometimes my fps drops for 0-5-1sec too 1-5fps, i play with vsync constant 120fps no matter which graphic settings, even when i turn off vsync i get 200-300fps...

something is very stange here

i realy dont know what else i could do...

maybe when i get the game cd i install it on my ssd.

would be nice if we get some feedbeck

There is mild stuttering and than there is full on seizure mode. Act 3 sewers is rain man in full schizoid mode. It's crazy. I don't even know how I'm alive. Each time there is a sun ray, each time those poison lobbers lob something, every time a new enemy appears. It's just plain awful.

I tried all different settings, set all to low, all to highest. Framerate is generally steady anywhere from 60-100+ fps depending. Then it just plummets. F1 shows it just instantly dropping to 1-3 fps then back up to 60ish, Just massive spikes and stutters. Honestly don't even know how I'm still alive in HC.

Not upgrading til later this year. For reference, I have a pretty massive games collection and this is not my main game. I just say that to understand that I have no issues of other games I'm playing, from Chivalry and StarCraft 2, to TF2 or Dota 2. I monitor temperatures like a hawk, CPU is a cool 35C and GPU hardly hits 50C, have never overclocked.

Having the exact same problem on amd radeon 6950.

please fix this ! i died on hardcore mode yesterday because of this spikes. with full party its almost not playable. System is perfectly fine, Far Cry 3 runs on all max very smoothly.

I strongly suspect it's AMD related.

Btw: I'm running PoE on an SSD.

Yep it looks like amd GPU having some issues with this game.
Well right now i installed latest catalyst with drivers. Its an update from January or December.So far i was not using Catalyst casue in mu opinion its a bit trashy but i gave it a chance.

All settings r in default,i only changed Tessellation Mode- AMD Optimized, and maybe game runs litle bit smoother dont have that many fps drops.
Im gonna be reserching further with different options good luck guys !!!
