He became obsessed with it and felt a higher power was telling him to do these things.

I lost my mind once, You see some crazy things.
it seems everything can be tied together.
For example: You are walking down the street and the wind blows to the left.
You then turn left and the wind blows again, Now the wind is blowing you forward... Does that mean you should continue to go this way?

Another example: You look like mario. Does that mean you should become a plumber or jump up into blocks with your head?

If you feel that there are deeper meanings to some things you should consult a psychiatrist.
These disillusion are unhealthy, Even if they may be true.

Not trying to attack you op, please take this from a random person who is concerned about your well-being.

There are people in my life who feel the same as you, "government out to get me, conspiracy theories, etc."

These are not happy people, in more cases than not, depressed.

Nobody can tell you what you believe is wrong, because if you have convinced yourself what you believe is true, well than anything else is false.

What I can tell you though is.. it does not matter. Let's say the government is some secret plot set out by some people in hoods and robes, so? Does it matter? More importantly, does it affect you knowing this? Think about it this way, you have made it this far in life (your age) and many other people live their lives oblivious to the truth you speak of, so... it can't be dangerous right?

All you get out of feeling this way is paranoid, which causes stress on your body leading to serious symptoms such as depression.

Trust me when I say this, the internet prays on people like you, looking for answers.
