Guild - Items Tagging

Disagree, sry. My reasons are difficult to explain, but I'll give it a shot.
When I play POE I like owning my gear. I like that what I have is made up of things I've earned somehow or other. Currently, I am in a guild which is very supportive. Items in guild stash are generally items that are valuable for low/mid level characters. Items valuing 1 exalt+ are usually not in member accessible tabs in the stash though. However, guild members will often link higher-end items in guild chat and can be convinced to sell at what we like to call the "bro-deal". The "bro-deal" is usually better the more time is spent mapping with the guild. Sometimes it's even simply free. I know that several in my guild have pledged to give our MF'er shavs for free if it drops, and much mutual respect will be gained if someone gets one and hands it over. I like the current system as it is because on occasion I am helped, and on occasion I am able to help my guild in this way. To give tagging rights to the guild leader (or even an assortment of officers also) would limit my ability to develop rapport with my guild members. I enjoy giving things away free/cheap, I also enjoy getting things free/cheap. I do not think I would enjoy knowing that my equipped gear isn't mine. This game is all about acquiring stuff, I'd hate to be out-classed by newbier guild members who'd rather just use loaner items from a community stash. |

Please let this thread die. This is literally the type of post that stems from someone in charge of a small guild giving items to someone and that someone leaving the guild with the items.

" Thanks for your helpful respond. “When I play POE I like owning my gear. I like that what I have is made up of things I've earned somehow or other. ” - The system doesnt prevent you from doing that. You can use the guild’s items to help you earn those items. “Items in guild stash are generally items that are valuable for low/mid level characters. Items valuing 1 exalt+ are usually not in member accessible tabs in the stash though.” - Those low/mid level items are usually only to help people leveling up, not when they reach high level. For example you really need an unique worth several exalts for your build to works better, but haven’t got the currency to buy it yet. You can temporarily use the Guild’s unique untill you get one. If the Guild has given you the item for free, you would have lost the motivation to earn the item yourself. But when you share it with everyone, you will still want to try farming the supposed item as soon as possible for your own. While progressing faster than you normaly do without those items. “However, guild members will often link higher-end items in guild chat and can be convinced to sell at what we like to call the "bro-deal". The "bro-deal" is usually better the more time is spent mapping with the guild. Sometimes it's even simply free.” - Seem like you understand it the wrong way. The system doesnt prevent you from this so called “bro-deal”. Because Guild Members dont have the obligation of donating those items at all. They can choose to either sell it to you and using that currency to upgrade their character insteads of relying on Guild’s Items, or they can donate it to the Guild (which rarely happen) so everyone can benefit from it. Either way you either get the items for cheaper price or sharing it with everyone without paying any currency. Im sure if you propose the deal with that member he will more often do the trade with you for cheaper price/giving you for free, rather than donating it, if you are good friends with him. “I know that several in my guild have pledged to give our MF'er shavs for free if it drops, and much mutual respect will be gained if someone gets one and hands it over.” - You are only speaking from the perspectief of a single persoon, the MFer, insteads of the guild. Giving a Shav to the MFer will allow him to die less often, do more damage, which offers profit to the entire party. In situation where the Guild has several MFer that log in on different time, it would probably not be a good idea to let a single MFer has access to it. There are more reasons but I will keep it short. “To give tagging rights to the guild leader (or even an assortment of officers also) would limit my ability to develop rapport with my guild members.” - As I said. The members has no obligation to donate it and they will rarely do it because they need gears/currency themself too. “I do not think I would enjoy knowing that my equipped gear isn't mine. This game is all about acquiring stuff, I'd hate to be out-classed by newbier guild members who'd rather just use loaner items from a community stash. “ - No one force you to use the Guild's Items permanently, they are just tools to help you reach your desired goal. Neither does it prevent you from those "Bro-deals". Just because you dont want to receive the help from those tools, doesn't mean you can prevent other from doing so, its selfish. Just like when you choose to play hardcore mode, you cant prevent others from playing non-hardcore, who got a much easier time. " That is completely biased. Small guilds deserve to give some words too… This is my first time creating a guild and so far I have only invited people who I absolutely trust. Because I enjoy putting worthy orbs/exalts worth uniques in the guild stash for my friends to use, not people who I have yet to learn who they are. Because of my way of doing thing, I have never had the kind of issue with random people stealing the guild’s items. And even if that were to happen, I would never involve such issue in public forum. More than often, only those with the mindset of doing so themself would arrive at the conclusion that other would do the same. This post is simply a share with the community in hope of getting the game even better. I want to make the guild bigger because more people means more fun, together with my trusted friends and people I have yet to learn to trust. For things to be fair, I want those newcomers to also have the same access to those usefull unique items as the people whom I already trust. This way, the guild become a place to help everyone to progress and eventually making friends, not just people whom you trust. I have know lots of guild having countless bundles of stash tabs, but zero items. I have also known of guilds having even alch-worth items stolen. This system can solve all those issues. If you were going to post in this topic, at least be helpful insteads of shutting other people’s mouth before they even finish a word. People like you are what truly ruin this comunity.
