This game have only one flaw atm... BIG ONE (not desync rant - its about UNIQUES TRAGIC DROP RATES)
Drop rate of uniques that are from higher rarity tiers...
Its preety lame that anything that is better/rarer than 1c uniques that EVERYONE HAVE IN DOUBLES AND TRIPLES is so rare.... I dont want shavs and kaoms raining form each boss but getting something from middle tier or even high tier from time to time will be nice. At this moment getting unique drop is even less exciting in PoE that it is in D3. Because im 99,9% sure that it will be another Kaoms Ring, Crown Of Thorns, Blackgleam or something like that. And im running with 225% rarity Piety, Dominus and maps up to lvl 70. Its just BAD. This game have more than 200 uniques atm but from reading trade chat you can get feeling that there is less than 50. Please consider buffing drop rates of 'better' uniques moderately. I can buy then i know. But i want find them without spending YEARS in game. :) I know online games needs a 'carrot' nut this is unrealistic carrot that feels more like punishment for time spent, not like future reward. Also... even with buffs in 1.0 some of them are just GARBAGE... maybe its intentional but i want to give feedback... items like crown of thorns or this gloves with conduit are atm just drop waste and dissapointment. Some of drawbacks on uniques are too.. questionable. ;) Consider buffing some underused uniques even more and making less drawbacks - espacially in lower lvls uniques - they are unusable because often you cant counter drawback on low lvl. And later no one cares about them on high lvl because rares are just better. Last thing - LOW LIFE UNIQUES... there is many of low lvl uniques with low life modifiers. Too many imho. Dont make new atm. And last thing (again.. :)) - low lvl uniques in lvl 70 maps.... NO PLZ. Or bias this heavy towards higher uniques in mercilles/maps PLZ. There is argument that they drop there because 6sox/link capability. I check this and ilvl 50 is needed to 6sox so they easily can drop in mercilles and stay away from maps. This is DEMORALIZING when i get Kaoms ring from Piety or lvl 70 boss. Also some vendor unique sink recipe will be nice. For all this 1c crap that is dropping. If for some reason you want to keep current hilarious drop rates give us at least some value to this common uniques. Or give them overall more value at vendors. TL;DR: 1. High rarity/power tier uniques needs SLIGHT increase in drop rates 2. Med rarity/power tier uniques needs SLIGHT BUT BIGGER increase in drop rates 3. Some uniques are just trash even with buffs/revamp in 1.0 - consider buff them more. I bet GG knows what is underused. 4. low life stuff and drawbacks should get some love - not only raw numbers like damamge/armor (buffs in 1.0 was rather about that), because sometimes thats why particular unique is garbage. 5. Low lvl uniques should not drop in high lvl areas or at last not so commonly like now. 6. More vendor value for uniques or more uniques usage in craftimg/vendor recipes. This is honeslty only gripe that i have with PoE atm. I played for one month i have lvl 80 char and the game feels unrewarding when it comes to unique drops. Rest is very good for me. :) Diablo 3? As an illustration i want to share my uniques tab from stash after MONTH of time and 80 lvls AND MANY, MANY MAPS AND PIETY RUNS WITH 225 INCREASED ITEM RARITY:
![]() Its slighty more than one per day and this is acceptable but like you all can see - nothing here is worth more than 1c. Nothnig here is 'oh wow!' tier, nothing is even from 'middle' tier. I have also about 5 valuable drops (but again - nothing very exciting)... i got Windscreams that i sold for 10c i think, Pillar Of The Caged God that i sold for 5 and two Aurseizes for 3c. So... i sold less than 1ex of uniques in ONE MONTH and 80 character levels. I also sold some crap like spare wandarlusts and blackheart for 1 fusing because nobody wants them even for 1c anymore..... :/ Again.. month. Srsly GGG... consider upping quality of unique drops. To the OP, I agree mostly. Uniques that I would like to see more of include that chomber mace. It's not OP, falls in the middle ground, and is an interesting unique. I would also like to see base drop rates of uniques stay the same in game, but increase the rarity lvl of uniques slightly in each lvl map. While say 78 lvl maps won't have a floor, odds are, it will not be say a leather hood.
To the other poster, if all you do is sell them, increasing drop rates won't garner more currency, as there will be more in supply. |

Because i think that this is big and important issue and maybe if this will be on the first page someone from GGG will read this. With current unrewarding shit that GGG calls 'drop rates' i dont know if i will stand this game till 1.0.2... BTW. I found very funny that even when GGG buffs something they always nerf something too so overall there is no change or even its worse... they buff bosses drops but simultaneously they nerf drop rates of everything besides lowest unique tier and honeslty only mercilles Dominus drops good stuff - PIety os dumpster with lowlvl uniques, bosses from maps too in most cases.. hilarious. You mey nerf drop rates of uniques overall but for the love of god... give us something besides crown of thorns and kaom ring. Diablo 3? Meh! OP should support a self found league where drops aren't based around trading. That is all.

Nothing will change until GGG realizes that forcing all players into trading is not ok, nor ARPG-like. It's ok that some goals are easier, or at all achievable throught trading (for eg. top tier crafting), but in PoE preety much everything is topped by trading - crafting, looting, edgame access - trading is the solution for all your (artificially created) problems.
Even such a simplistic hack as account bound uniques, would make the current looting better. And that tells you much about the state of looting in this (loot finding?) game. (its also very telling that items are mostly measured through: hm, I wonder how much chaos I can sell this junk for) When night falls

This is unfortunately a side effect of the "Rarity first, item base second system" that is required for GGG to scale sockets on uniques.
I don't think it's necessarily bad, but I do think there should be an appropriate outlet for overflowing common uniques. There are so many options that could be done. A chaos-like recipe that gives multiple chaos or an appropriate reward for a full set of uniques. Maybe even turn in 5 unques and get a random unique back with the item level of the lowest unique used. Right now the only recipe for uniques doesn't work very well because it's not practical. Tracking down a rare, a blue, and a white of a base item is tedious and time consuming, and for things like rings it's better to keep the rares for the chaos recipe. |

I run two Maestrom Of Chaos map yesterday (both with 500% overall rarity)... effect:
plus The Coward's Trial unique map... i run it (it have 100% unique drop on the end).. effect: My 4th one on this char! I think that i also have 3 Ignomons. DROPS ARE PATHETIC AND RIDICULOUSLY BIASED TOWARD LOWLVL CRAP EVEN IN HIGH LVL MAPS AND MERCILLES. And its not enough for GGG because most powerfull uniques drops only in 74+ maps (they promosed to change that and they silent about this... 3 weeks is passing by). I will bunp this last time - maybe someone with brain in GGG office will read first post and (even if they think that current unique drops are ok lmao) introduce some new USABLE vendor recipes or maybe make lowlvl bias less restrictive. Now its less fun than D3. Congratulations on making item hunt game with 200+ uniques where 99,99% playerbase will never get anything even moderately good because its artificially set that way. "RNG"? I call it bullshit not RNG - RNG is random this is not random at all. TBH nothing in this game (craft etc..) is purely random). /end of rant, will probably quit because of this. Sorry but more than month of getting nothing more than lowlvl crap and farming alterations while playing very crappy Trade Tycoon (without real trade system - only thing that makes this game playable and living are two thrid party websites lolz) is enough. Phat lootz (10+ runs ithink... maybe 15 - 175 IIR) from Dominus mercilles from today. I takes me 2 weeks of alteration grind to buy all items that i need to have ability to even kill him (because he is so much gear check)! Im so rewarded now! Im so happy with item hunt in PoE!
1c mask that nobody uses because its so bad and thrid Readbeak in stash. GGG redefines term 'loot pinata' to 'dissapointment pinata'. PS.
