What sets this game apart

"
No hard restrictions on what you can do with your class.

That's wrong, stat allocation varies based on class picked. A witch won't get +8 str per point spec in the strength tree, so you are sort of limited on making the most ideal class/skill/spec combo.
Plenty of awesome heroes never wore pants, like the Spartans.

My only thoughts: "Does the game allow for an aggressive play style?", "How aggressive/timidly can you play?", and "How is the balancing?"
Lots of good input here. The thing that caught my eye the most was the epic skill system, and the league system.

I think it was said best, when it was said, this game is an evolution, not a revolution. What I also see is a great deal of innovation on perfecting ideas that were great, but somewhat flawed. In addition, it takes the genre to a new level in terms of it's level of competition, challenge, and overall promise of replay-ability. One hopes too, for some epic loot hunting.

I was watching a video of someone starting out as a witch, and was glad that they started the character down on the shoreline unconscious.

I've been waiting for a cool starting point like that for some time now.

Like conan or ddo or... lol
I like the seeing the gem system. I am a bit more interested to play with it when/if I get a beta invite. Looks to be very FFVII esque. I am curious what the devs think of d3 using a gem system as well. Leveling up the gems is a very cool way add persistence and keeping items around. The market response to gem leveling might really change the nature of trading.
I hope for more classes in the future . This game too good .
Try not to waste it .

That is not a hard restriction.
It's a soft restriction.

It's not "building a str witch is fucking stupid and can never succeed", it's "building a str witch is not as good as building a str marauder or an int witch, but it is not doomed from the beginning".

Like I already said in my original post, deviating from the main stat of the class is less rewarding than focusing on it, but it is not impossible to pull off like it is in other games.
