Changing balance during season made me quit.

You spend hours on buliding characters, ton of curency on gearing them, and then kaboom - patch makes it useless. Lame, unprofessional and dishonest. See you suckers, too bad i paid for your game.

Agreed other than the I paid part. You no have supporter tag = you no pay for free game. Anything you purchased in the store was your own idea and was not "paying for the game"

I paid when i purchased points, GGG got their money at this time ^^. Doesnt matter if i spend any of these points (i didnt).
Every game I play on steam gets updated to receive new balance tweeks - these include but are not limited to changes in the way a particular player activity (like a skill) may behave.

In other words.

You used a very powerful build that you knew was too powerful compared to other build and classes.
As the game is still quite fresh out of beta you know a lot of balancing patches is coming out.
Your main character is up for a balance and you fret out.

Sure it is annoying but you knew it was to powerful. You can still use it but you don't have a "kill them all with one armed tied on the back" build.
This is to be expected. And having people whine about the balance patches.

Get over it and start over. You are not the only one.

No thx, if i started a new character, i am sure GGG in 3 weeks would come to conclusion that it's "too powerful" and nerf it in another patch. They act like fakin Blizzard now.

stop whining and adapt. otherwise leave quietly. nobody wants to hear it.

In Diablo 2 (which was a great game) balance changes were done at same time as ladder (season) resets . In PoE they are being made during season. Which makes it more and more crapy game.

The season started before the gem was released.

Wut? Gem was introduced in 1.0.0, at same time new leagues started.

I can empathize with the OP. I think as a game company, you have to be really careful about making big changes to a game that is transaction based. If you're going to make fairly drastic changes to things, anyone that spent money on a build that gets changed should be compensated in some way. At least to the point where they could rebuild their character without extra expense.

This is one of the reasons why transaction based games are such a slippery slope for a game company. It's fairly easy to tick off a large majority of your player base.

Unless something is *truly* overpowered and is game breaking, it should be left as is. A constant stream of nerfs is a sure fire way to lose a lot of your player base. Creating an atmosphere of doubt about the future of a skill you've spent time building around is also a quick way to lose a lot of people. This game takes a fair amount of time and investment in your character, having it pulled out from under you is not something people are going to put up with more than once or twice. PoE has a system where you really have to buy into your build/character, as it's difficult and/or very time consuming to make sweeping changes to a build and gear. That kind of system is fine if there is a reasonable amount of stability.

I'm not sure the devs have made the switch from being "in development" to a released product. Jerking the game all over the place is fine and dandy in alpha and beta, that's what they are for, it's not a great idea after release.
