Ye I totally agree that the playstyle has a great factor. For me I would prefer a slower harder hitter bow (Harbinger) since Im kind of a glass cannon (only 2.5k hp). I just cant facetank the enemy. I usually hit and run the enemy. My playstyle and skill tree would surely benefit much more from a Harbinger bow.
If you're a glasscannon player, less hard hitting, but faster attacking is much better, as you can succesfully reduce reflect if the dmg returned is based on lower dmg hits, due to the armor scaling. So the last arguement of yours is invalid, unless ofcourse you play Vaal Pact!
