PoE is unplayable from Greece and Italy since it was released due to lag and disconnects.

edit: I edited the title since it seems the game is completely unplayable for a lot of Italians and Greeks. The problem is almost surely with Telecom Italia (seabone.net). The problems always start at the milano52.mil.seabone.net node.

This happens almost all the time except very non-prime time (like 6-9 am).

My diary:

days 1-8: PoE is unplayable at prime time(ping bounces between 100 and 300/500/infinity, disconnects)

day 9: PoE is playable, but the problem isn't fixed completely. There is still about 50% packet loss in milano52.mil.seabone.net but the nodes after it seem less affected. Ping bounces between 100 and 150/200 but the game is playable finally.

day 10: semi-unplayable: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/552947/page/22#p5073749. EDIT a few hours later: completely unplayable now.

day 11: not perfect, but playable (ping fluctuates between 100 and 150).

I did test my ping with other games and they were flawless.

Looking over the results, it appears you have an issue with your connection that your internet provider will need to investigate.

Packet loss and latency spikes.
As these hops are before the NetworkLayer ones, which our servers are hosted on, you'll be experiencing issues in-game.

Why doesn't this occur for other games?
This is how internet routing works, different sites/services/games all use different routes.
So one game can be fine, but others: terrible.

Problems like this can randomly occur one day, and then get fixed up the next, all without ever contacting your provider.
This is the nature of the internet, and it is a problem that exists in every country with every single ISP there is; some are more susceptible to these problems, as they likely use 'cheaper' route providers.

A large portion of the threads in this forum are due to this problem alone, and contacting your provider is the only way you can find out if the problem is fixable or not.
Here are some facts:
- I played PoE for 7.5 months without any lag or connection problems.
- I played PoE in the last few hours of open beta and it was perfectly fine.
- Every day since PoE was released was full of lag and disconnects.
- Every other game I played since PoE's release had no lag or disconnects.
- I watched Etup a few minutes ago and his ping had exactly the same behavior as mine (bouncing between 100 and 300/500/1000/infinity)

You understand how difficult it is to believe that it is my problem?

Contacting your provider doesn't cost anything. Why not try that first if it can solve this.
Even if it just mean telling them "look, my provider said it's fine"

me and all the ppl on my guild got the same problem. the lag occurs during pick ours, while during the night/morning the game run just fine, like it was in open beta.
never had such lag issues before the release, now sadly it is just unplayable.

it can't be an issue related to the provider, since on my guild ppl are from completely different zones and we got like 3-4 different providers, and all of us have the same problem that occur everytime at the same moment. definetely you should look deeper on to this issue ggg, i can't accept answers like Henry's one.

Without trace routes to the servers from each person having the problem, we can't.

I'm sorry to hear you're all having this trouble, we definitely want to identify any potential issues that may be occurring and resolve them as quickly as possible, but without proof to backup the claims, we literally can't do anything. :)

They might be from different areas but they can still have problems with ISP's

Pretty much anyone connecting through the EU gateway will be going through Amsterdam , Germany or London and depending on just what route through them it takes you'll get problems.

It's not hard to run WinMTR or ping plotter and it'll tell you exactly where the problem...and so far, bar a few problems with the AU gateway ALL of them have been outside GGG's control
