Changing name of Standard and Hardcore League to Legacy leagues.

It is obvious that current state of things on this forums is simply mistake made by GGG.

Standard league and hardcore league were from start legacy leagues. Graveyards of fallen HC characters and characters for racing/new leagues.

People start game in standard game thinking it is proper league but reality is much different. Economy is fucked up because infux of gear from other leagues and much more stuff that that.

This coupled with standard and hardcore leagues being DEFAULT options for new players. New players from start will play leagues that are filled with power players that played months getting all fat loot.


I propose:

- Changing Standard League and Hardcore League names for Legacy League and Hardcore Legacy League
- New Leagues should be named as Standard League and Hardcore League with surnames like Domination or Nemesis
- Legacy leagues should be hiden from plain view so that new players which still didn't play yet PoE would start in leagues that offer best of PoE. (Naturally if someone want to start in legacy leagues he should be allowed)

Thanks to this:
- Players from start would know to not expect proper economy or balance on legacy leagues
- No Bitching from legacy Kaom or any other memorable piece of PoE History being in the game.

This worked well for D2 and noone expected from legacy leagues anything more than being playground for old characters

Standard and Hardcore are already Legacy leagues.
When 4 month leagues start, the default option when making new char becomes 4 month league equivalent of Standard.

For the sake of new players, I suggest those names changes too. So many cries in this forum has been because they thought "standard" was something that it wasn't. People expect the "standard" to be balanced between builds, but that is so far from the truth and that's why so many people are whining and whining.

Problem is not in people like we. Problems is when NEW people to game or gengre want to start a game and they see few days after they got there that there will be change so that they won't be able to get best gear. That is the problem here and that is why there is so much bitching now on forums by users who should know from start that those leagues are graveyards.


GGG did mistake and that mistake until they will fix it will cause more situations like this.

If they will hide Legacy leagues from default starting leagues panel and rename leagues adding for example:

This is Legacy league. It is league that function as graveyard for all characters for default leagues and reces, often containing old unbalanced items. For best PoE experience start with Standard or Hardcore League

That way people starting game on those leagues will know what to expect.

The only people who are outraged are people who visit forums frequently and knew all of this already, so no amount of renaming will stop those people from loosing their shit over one thing or another. In fact, they'd probably complain about renaming the league if you tried that.

Most regular people playing Standard don't care and never will.
New people already have 4 month leagues as the default recommended leagues.
