There is nothing wrong that spells shotgun, if there were 2 different versions of LMP/GMP support (one for spells, other for attacks). ATM, LMP/GMP seems absolutely must-have for shotgun-spells, while being pretty weak for attacks. That should be fixed.


As for spectral throw...
Better make it dont return back and buff it's damage! It really annoys waiting it to return...

And because they shotgun they also suck without multiple projectiles and devs can't buff it so they wouldn't break MP setup. Every seen anyone use FP without MP? No support should ever be required to make a spell do its basic job.

So I'm all for 'nothing shotguns'... it would solve 'multiple projectile' enemies problems too, they aren't really balanced with shotgunning in mind so they are the worst generic foe a melee can encounter.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

ok, and how do you intend to do this, without rendering Freezing Pulse completely useless?

I'm playing my second FP Shadow in a hardcore league (Nemesis. the first was in HC. R.I.P to Bone Rhoas back in Open Beta), and I can tell you I'd be dead meat without the shotgun effect.

FP is a skill that requires standing closer to enemies, than Ice Spear for example.
unless you "outsource" it to a totem, which I'll never do.
removing it's ability to shotgun will make it useless, unless you increase it's base damage substantially.
but increasing base damage substantially, will make it a "no-brainer" OP skill.

as mostly a melee player, though, I agree shotgunning mobs are your worst nightmare - but nerfing FP into the ground would not change the ability of MP Voidbearers to melt your face off, for example.

Actually by definition if spells could not shotgun, it would stop a multiple projectile voidbear from melting my face off. :P

As for freezing pulse, that's simple. Add a higher chill and freeze duration to it; making it better for slowing down and freezing targets. In addition, increasing it's base damage wouldn't make it a no brainer OP skill if it didn't shotgun.

FP already has damage dropoff as an incentive to stand closer, that's enough to make it distinctive. It could also get a dropoff chance to freeze (something mentioned on skill section on website but not ingame). It's already a brain-dead skill with no interesting interactions whatsoever.

So, remove shotgun for missile spells but boost their damage and give FP freeze chance like it says it has and perhaps boost the distance scaling a bit. Simple.
