Mana Shield

The fact that it protects against spell damage as well as everything else is one of the best parts to using it ;)

I just had a thought though.....I can only assume that this keystone also protects against chaos damage! Oh yeah!
Standard Forever
The real question is will it also absorb RF damage, else i see a revival opportunity for hybrid life/mana rf builds.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

Nope. It does not apply to any degeneration.

offtopic, can you tell us if Avatar of fire is cumulative with gems/uniques?Let's say i use it with a 50% Blackgleam, will 100% of the physical dmg get converted to fire,or AoF will convert half, and the Blackgleam convert 50% of the remaining dmg?
All damage mitigation from resists, armor etc. Are still applied before damaging your mana pool?

Also, will +%ES nodes increase your maximum mana with EK or will all this nodes be wasted when you get EK?

There are talents in the witch tree that increases "ES on shields" energy shield by up to 120% I think. With EK + Mana shield, does that mean having 200 ES on shield becomes 400+ Mana?

Major concern: With EK, picking mana shield: Wont that make Mana shield less good due to having to invest a ton of nodes in BOTH +Life AND +Mana?

Im planning an Avatar of fire+acrobat+phase+block+evasion+EK+Mana shield build, But I fear I will get skill starved due to the needed investment in ES+MANA+LIFE.

Yes.
Real question is, how does it work with arctic armor?

After all percentage mitigations are applied, damage gets reduced by arctic armor. After that it gets removed from ES, if we have no ES it will be removed from life, if we have enough mana 30% of it will go to mana.

you get hit for 100 damage
endurance charges and armor reduce it by 60% leaving us with 40 to take
arctic armor reduces it by 10 so we are supposed to take 30
21 will go to health, 9 will go to mana
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

In other words: It is useless when it comes up to protect you against chaos dmg? (Viper strikes, poison clouds, etc.)
