Avatar of Fire and converted damage mechanics

I have seen alot of people posting about converted damage and generally confused about how it works. While its possible that the converted damage formula will change before release I highly doubt it, this is a good resource for anyone that wants to educate themselves on converted damage. http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Damage_conversion

In summary you cannot break 100% with converted damage(but you can with additive damage), in fact if you are converting alot of sources you will actually somewhat nerf your main source of damage to balance all the other sources in the equation. its going to be extremely easy to convert 100% cold to 100% fire (1 support gem) and you will be able to hit 100% efficiency with physical attacks( 1/2 of hatred aura + added fire damage @ level 20 is 101.5% fire damage. )

interestingly enough it seems like the most efficient skill at the moment would be burning arrow with 131.5% fire damage. (could go alot higher with blackgleam unique 181.5% to be exact).

I am extremely excited for ranged physical characters. the previous problem wasn't passive problems but the lack of an efficient 'more' multiplier on their abilities, now that they will be able to use a proper 'more' multiplier on their damage sources (weapon ele damage) ranged physical should finally have a scaling outside of trying to scale 5-6% base crit chance with gimmicky crit multiplier.
can u plz explain this:

if i have 100% cold to fire, and i crit, will it make burn or freeze?

Burn, with 100% conversion you are doing no cold damage.
If you do burning damage, then you will definitelly benefit from Avatar of fire. If you do 1000 cold damage, AOF will turn it into 500 fire damage, and with burning it's additional 4/3 times 500, meaning total 1166 fire damage.

That's how I understood it though.
„I don't give a fuck if it was his tenth anniversary with his goddamn neckbeard...“
„If they think I'm going to let them sweep this pizza guy thing under the rug...“
No mod action. Business as usual.

and if u have only avater to do 50% from cold to fire?
i wont do cold dmg, but will i be able to get freeze?
or AOF = only burning never freeze/ shock?

You can't use any other damage type besides fire.
So if you use AoF you'd better somehow convert all damage you do into fire because everything you don't convert will be lost and you will lower your damage no matter how much fire nodes you took. You can currently do it with ice and physical, ice being kinda pointless for ignite building because fire has better chunk-damage spells.

... and you can't put an ice spell into Searing touch and get +2 levels :)
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I wonder if Avatar of Fire counts towards traps.

Like does bear trap turn into a fire damage bear trap?
yes bear trap is physical damage so you could avatar of fire it (the possibly wrong version of the passive tree we saw was 50% of physical damage, not physical attack) so you could avatar of fire, blackgleam, added fire, and hatred. on bear trap for 151.5% of bear trap physical damage as fire damage. (the level 20 gem alone would be average hit of 2935 X 2.515 = 7381.5 fire damage.)

Sure you don't mean 2935 X 1.515 = 4446 fire damage?

Either way its still a crazy amount of burning.

In closed beta, AoF burning arrow templars were one of the most OP builds out there, people were getting to merciless in 4-6 hours. I look forward to seeing it revived as it was a crazy fun build.

151.5% increased damage is actually equal to a multiplier of 2.515, 100% increased damage in math is YourDamage*2, 1.515 would only be an increase of 51.5% damage

I would definitely use burning arrow over bear trap though if I was trying to ignite enemies, but if I just wanted to 1hit things with fire damage, bear trap sounds good :P considering both of them scale amazingly well off of blackgleam, why not use both, you have your insane 1hit damage and then your clean up trash mobs burning arrow.
