The Steam client is going to be connecting to the same servers, hence the same login screen, hence the same characters.

I probably will do it just cause steam usually downloads faster for me than GGG's servers. sometimes it takes forever to download big patches.

steam is for people who're not capable of maintaining their game's updates and save files so they need to give away personal stats of their gaming behaviour as an exchange and install a games shop on their pcs. they're welcome!

Or as an alternative, Steam is for players who want to have a life and yet at the same time have the game fully patched and ready to go when they have both the time and inclination to play.

Or Steam is for people who want good games for dirt cheap with the option to redownload/reinstall from any computer without having to search for discs or log in to a dozen different companies download pages. Oh, and for people who want to play the games that are only on steam, or want an easy database of mods for those games.

Just cause you dont like steam dont try to throw everyone else who uses it under the bus. Steam does a great job of allowing people to have a tight community through the discussion forums and if the game has the workshop enabled makes installing and managing mods a breeze. You are welcome to look down on me for not wanting to manage all 40+ of my skyrim mods, but steam does it for me with ease and i love that.
But the great part is that if you dont like steam, you can just keep using PoE as you are right now. |
