Chris' response to loot filter (a little late)

Hey guys,

I'm sure a bunch of you visit reddit regularly, and I'm sure a lot of you already know about this, but I haven't seen a post on the PoE forums about it yet so I thought I'd share.

Basically, someone made a post asking if they will re-introduce a loot filter of sorts, and Chris answered:

There are numerous changes in 1.0.0 that will affect this, don't worry.

Not much else to say, just thought I'd share with you guys. It's obviously a good thing for everyone!

... I think?

EDIT:

Okay so he goes on to say "it's not a loot filter per-say... we removed it for a reason" but mentions that there will be a reliable way to battle the sea of white items on the ground.

I still think the best way would be a custom file to personally prevent undesired stuff to drop.

Example: In merciless, I dont want to see white chests with less than 5s other than 5l. 6s can drop with no link. I want to only see white armours 4l if max sockets allowed is 4. Etc.

It could be extremely long to set up but it would definitely be worth the time invested.
am i the only one who got what he really meant to say :P

imo they are doing the iiq--->iir thing they mentioned in the dev manifesto

That's what I figured. A loot filter is too extreme. Never seeing any trash on the ground and knowing that "if it drops, it's good" is just too much.

IIQ -> IIR tweak in ratios is the most likely result.

I think loot filtering is just about perfect. My only suggestion for improvement is to have the ability to hire a ghost player who is unaffected by gameplay; who would pick up all the items I need for me.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
Chris trolls on reddit, I think :)
Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.

Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :(

Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt.
whatever they thought was going to fix the issue didn't. please just give us filter options. way too much item text covering the screen in party play.

Nice necro. But I'll further the discussion.

I believe the default button to make loot disappear is "Z." You can't filter loot in a game like this. If you did, why have it drop in the first place? The appeal of ARPG's like this is to wade through oceans of garbage to find a few gems. It wasn't so bad in D2, except for the Cow Level (D2's only true end-game Map). If you can't see the screen, use that "Z" key until after combat, or just toggle it off and back on to reset the appearance of gear text on your screen.
Look, man. Video games are hard, okay?
And if you dont like "Z" you can use "T" for your SummonGuardianTotem.

Now gieve back IIQ

An endless sea of loot crowding your screen? That's the kind of problem I like to have. Regardless, even if I don't need it or wouldn't use it I hope they make it an option for the people who would like it.
