" You do realize that a ton of current POE players came from D3 right? I am sure there are still some cool people over there who just haven't given POE a chance yet (for whatever reason). This community brings out the best in people. I'm really not worried about mean people over here. I'm more concerned with this game getting enough players to fund its expenses and pay the devs. Standard Forever

" That was pretty much my entire motivation for promoting PoE in the d3 forums. And also, converting the disgruntled hardcore d2 players, who hated d3, to give PoE a chance. |

" I exaggerated it to make a point more clear. But in principle it is what the OP did. " This is exactly what the OP should of done but didn't do. " Being polite would involve actually following the basic rules and guidelines of the restaurant, which again the OP didn't do. What's really important though is how people will react to you. There's three ways this can work out: -The other customer is also displeased with the restaurant as much as you are. While your approach is rude, he/she dislikes the restaurant more and decides to take up on your recommendation. -The other customer is actually enjoying the new restaurant. He/she is annoyed at you and chooses to continue dining at this restaurant. -The other customer is not enjoying this new restaurant as much as he/she thought and is considering not coming back. However, your approach comes of as rude. This customer thinks that the people who eat at the other restaurant are as rude and disrespectful you and decides never to eat there. Had you waited until both of you were outside (the "polite" thing to do), they might have taken your recommendation. " Yes, he should feel bad. He's doing much more harm than good. He's turning away more potential customers than getting new ones and hurting the game in the long run. And all because he couldn't be bothered to scroll down half a page. Keyblades!

" We will just have to agree to disagree. As long as your not coming across as rude and judgmental then your not doing anything wrong. If you have ever been over to the D3 forum general discussion you would know that talking about POE is not a problem at all. Players can react to your hype of the game in any way they want to, who cares. At least they have heard about the game. The point of telling people is just so they are aware that people like Path of Exile and they should check it out. " I don't see how you can prove that he is turning away more potential customers. In my experience the quality of the game is what makes people want to play it or not. It doesn't matter what they think about the players in the game. It doesn't matter what game you play there are always going to be people that you don't like. People talking about whatever they want over there is not the fault of the player but the fault of Blizzard for not putting in any effort into moderating their forums properly. " That's wrong. nateedubs disobeyed forum rules, which is wrong. " How often do you want to repeat that? There's a specific section in the D3 forum, where this could have been posted. It is not wrong to write about PoE, but it is wrong to write that at wrong places. " Proof: I am losing interest in this game due to the fact, that people with such attitudes shown in this thread are playing the game. Obviously, the quality of the game is decisive for whether I enjoy it or not. But the community makes a big part of the game. Knowing that I meet people with such attitudes ingame, that's just ruining the gaming experience for me...and I'm quite sure for a lot of other players, too. " nateedubs got banned...what else do you want to see? That's like: A person on the street murders another. "That's not the murderer's fault, it's the polices' fault" ...when actually it's a fact, that the murderer was just sent to jail. ign: Qwertzuiopp

" You sound like you haven't been over there much at all. The first page generally has 4-7 posts about Torchlight 2. His ban was incredibly random. It appeared to me to be just from posting a little too much in a row. The idea that he was banned for talking about Path of Exile is hilarious and completely retarded in the context of that forum. He obviously doesn't care if he was breaking forum rules or if he got banned, just like I don't really care. There was a new POE player here recently who learned about the game from the D3 forums. I am betting that it was general discussion. So you can throw out all of the speculation you want but IMO I seriously doubt many people are turned off from a game by a few players. If you can't tolerate people that you don't like then you shouldn't play any video games. Standard Forever

Multikill has the right of it.
Although in defence of the O.P. he has had some difficulties in a forum for another game. So have I. Same game. I don't use offensive language because I'm literate and I won't engage in flame duels with posters with puberty problems so although I was not banned I don't monitor or post in any of the forums connected with the game. The Qu'ran says 'to you, your religion and to me, mine'. So let it be. | |
" You sound pretty hypocritical. You come into a thread not knowing exactly what he said or even if he was bragging at all and call him a douche. Your not any better. Get off your high horse. BTW you do realize that anyone who posts on the D3 forums bought the game right? If you paid for the game then you have the right to say what you want about it in the forums which is exactly what current D3 players do. They bluntly say what they want about the game which is usally very negative. So why is it ok for them to do it but not the OP who just suggests an alternative for people fed up with D3? People bring up different games over there all of the time, its not taboo and IMO its not against any rule if the rule isn't actually enforced. Edit: Oh look another new player informed about the game through the D3 forums. Probably from the general discussion http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1761 Standard Forever Last edited by iamstryker#5952 on Oct 8, 2012, 9:20:10 PM

Stryker I saw your post on D3 forum, I then googled "POE" cause I had no idea what it was. What a surprise I got. I had a quick read of the classes and skills and signed up and downloaded. Ive only played for a couple of hours but it bought back fond memories of starting out in D2 all those yeas ago. And as I played the heartbreak of wowablo patch RMAH v1.0 actually faded away.
So thank you for saving me :) |
