Lol! The more people pirate this software, the more free advertising PoE gets! SEED SEED! (lol) If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, wouldn't it be a Merry Christmas? Last edited by DarkWestern#1210 on Sep 10, 2012, 10:38:23 PM

Actually, considering you can download the client for free from here, I don't see anything wrong with this.
Heck, someone might torrent it and decide they want to play and buy a key. Technically, that's a win for GGG. And once the game goes Open Beta/free to play, the situation will be quite similar -- either you DL it here for free, or you 'illegally' get it from a large torrent site. ...I'm sure there are some legal ramifications to it all, but I don't think this is particularly 'stupid'. The only stupidity I can clearly pinpoint is that it's REALLY quick to download the client directly from the site. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.
I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. |

A torrent for the game installer takes work off of GGG's servers (excluding patching) and may improve download speeds for some people.
I see nothing wrong with this. (Also, an opt-in p2p patcher would be nice. For the most part it wouldn't make that big of a difference for daily server load, but would save GGG's ass on patch-push day when there are thousands of people waiting.) |

" This. Disregard witches, aquire currency.

" The only problem is that the files aren't verified, so people downloading it don't know if they're getting the actual proper client or something else entirely. |

" This lol It seems like nobody really understood why I found this stupid, but that is ok, I have modified the thread accordingly :) /thread If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, wouldn't it be a Merry Christmas? Last edited by DarkWestern#1210 on Sep 10, 2012, 10:38:42 PM

World of Tanks has an option to download the game by BitTorrent but I don't think they go through a tracker like TPB. So if GGG ever decides to offer that I doubt they would go through TPB or any other kind of public torrent site.

" BitTorrent (or just torrents, as there are countless torrent downloaders like BitTorrent) are not only legal, but they are very useful. I've seen a lot of sites and online stores that use torrents to distribute the stuff they want to sell, simply because it's faster and safer. (if your download stops for some reason, you don't have to worry about having to download everything all over again.) I think GGG using a torrent-file to let us download the client would be a great idea. Not so sure about putting it on piratesites as the quality you get there are questionable, to say the least, but why not? If you are so dumb you want to pirate a free game and risk getting stuck with all sorts of viruses, spyware etc, by all means go ahead. As for me, I'll only download from verified sources like their own homepage. ;) "And that's how you die properly, sailor boy."

" Yeah I don't really use torrents or know how they work, I'll admit it, lol. |

Not all torrents are legal though. That is one of the ways that you can find movies for download before they get screened. People also use them to get software programs with out paying for them.
