Your first thoughts when you began to play ?

my thought: ugh the graphics...
but i guess thats one of the hardest things to do with few people and limited resources

i stayed regardless and my witch is 62 now :D

Why didn't blizzard make a game this fun, oh that's right we were all jay wilson'd.

But in all seriousness it was a little slow at the start but as soon as I started unlocking abilities, more damage, attack speed increases, oh and thank you dev team for the skill tree, diablo 3 could learn from this, also the entire atmosphere of the game was what diablo should have been but this game has been great soo far for me in this beta :).

Graphics are fine, maybe the specular reflections are a bit too strong, but that is an matter of opinion.

My first thought was that the game quite elegantly introduces you to the story and the premise, without being an obnoxious dick about it, with 5 minutes of dramtic cutscenes with characters you have no investment in, because you've never seen them before. You just jump in.

The menu is bloody fantastic, you start of seeing an far off sunset from an ship, and you can tell it's pretty harsh weather. Then you pick characters, and you're thrown under deck where you get too see the 6 dudes, obviously imprisoned in squalor, while at the same time you hear the dude that goes on about past crimes and how you are mercifully given a weapon.
When you pick the dude, you can read the characters info if you want, or you can just skip it. The dude does a (quite frankly cheesy) animation that tells you just about what the character is all about, and then you're sent of to the beach.
In less than 10 seconds I am introduced to the idea that my character has committed a crime, been sent of to an remote island as an exile, and what kind of character I am playing. 5 seconds later I am braining a zombie with some bit of driftwood. Genius.

My first thought was the graphics were a little bit outdated, but since I don't play games purely because of graphics I decided to keep going. I was also shocked by how big the passive skill tree was (I now think it should be bigger :)

I was hooked as soon as I killed Hillock, and received a pair of rare boots that added movement speed.


It was a refreshing change to actually find an upgrade for my character just by playing the game, and not using an auction house or trading. I'm still using those boots for all of my new characters. I think that that the hardest difficulty for me was normal and learning what different attacks the monsters had. Those torch-throwing scavengers were killing me non-stop until I learned to move out of the way :)

Also don't hate me because of this, but I think this forum is one of the ugliest ones I have ever seen. It really took me a while to get used to it. There are way too many sub-topics on the main page. I wish it was a little bit more user-friendly.

well at first i made a marauder i thought the combat and targeting was bad...
so i remade a ranger it was alot better got to level 36 something..

than i seen kripp stream his marauder so i picked mine back up and im level 49 enjoying the game

My very first thought, and all throughout my first few hours of playing is how it didn't look as bad visually as it seemed to on the videos I have seen for it.
