Why wasnt blind abuses/utilized like this before?

Not to this degree

Like I used and have seen mentioned Flame Totem/Knockback/Blind, but facetanking Piety like that is on another level

mercy kole is a joke...do it in colonnade with some decent map mods...

I wouldn't say that merciless Kole is a joke with as little armor as his character has and 2700 hp. I don't think the point of the video was to demonstrate that Kole could be killed as much as a demonstration of how well evasion can actually work.

Folks were stupid and too quick to dismiss evasion in favour of the hard numbers of IR, of course. Anyone who is serious about evasion has been Blinding ever since Z gave it to us. 'Facetanking' isn't our style but a blind melee enemy is a dead one as far as an evader is concerned. Normally I throw in Temporal Chains rather than Enfeeble but to each their own. This is how I 'tank' Brutus in Cruel and Merciless with nothing but viper strike.

Thing is, it isn't abuse. It's not overpowered. Because it still takes a lot of sucking at earlier levels to reach this level of untouchability. And you're STILL weak as shit to casters, which is why when GGG re-balanced skeleton magi I almost wept for joy.

The moment an evader gets blind is the moment an evader becomes viable. Everything before that is a gamble almost not worth the risk. It shits me to tears that Blind is not a reward until Cruel, given it's a level 24 gem and would make many an evader's life bearable during Normal Act 3. But at least it is there.

All in all, I think anyone who is surprised by this video has not considered that evasion rating is part of the puzzle, not the only piece.

when / if you do get hit, how bad does it hurt? That is why i dont like avoidance, its NEVER real mitigation ... meh dunno

''And you're STILL weak as shit to casters'' --> go 75% block and spell block too for top luls
The bigger hits wouldn't hurt too much more compared to someone who has armor. Getting surrounded by a lot of mobs would probably be more annoying. Getting punctured probably suck too.

I think they would hurt much more actually, armor is effective the more you got, unlike the cliche that its crap, and yeah punctures and lots of mobs, have fun XD

Armor is less effective the bigger the hit is. Even with 20k armor, you mitigate very little damage from hard-hitting bosses, such as the Colonnade boss, or the flicker spider boss in Overgrown Shrine. With enough dodge/evasion, you should be able to create enough of a buffer such that, provided you have a big enough HP pool, you won't die in 1 shot and will have enough time to regenerate your life before you get hit again.

A same amount of armor become less effective with a bigger hit yes, but the more armor you have is always ... sometimes much ... better. And i think 20k armor for melee is laughable. To each his own.
20k armor (without granite flasks active) is actually really beefy. But, as was stated, it melts when it comes to a kole smash. The damage mitigation comes out to 10%, maybe 20% reduction against hits like that.

As an evader with basically no armor I don't have that extra buffer but I do have 5 endurance charges and enfeeble. I'm not that far behind :)

Tanking bosses only requires that you get enough HP to not get one shot as an evader. Thanks to the entropy system it's essentially impossible for you to get hit twice in a row as long as you have enough avoidance stats. When you do get hit you have plenty of time to leech it back or pop some potions.

against kole's old damage and on a crit, (4k) 20k armor was 30% reduction alone, besides endurance bringing it up to around 70% (and almost 60% now). Now on a post-nerf non crit its already much more than that. And like I said, at least 35k+ armor for melee imo ... yeah armor is still worth it. The only people who found kole smash op were idiots running 2k hp, no enfeeble, no granites, etc, and they got him nerfed (well their loser king kripp did XDDDD)
