Reset Skill Tree?

Being able to redo your entire skill tree is ridiculous and it will never happen. With this system characters are truly unique. Having full respecs WILL hurt this game.

Its a good thing.

GGG said already that paying for full respec will never happen.

Well said. Yet, how exactly are you exploiting a single respec up to level 31? It would basically save you a single reroll. In other words, by your logic, allowing rerolls opens up an exploit as well. Watch out folks!

This game is center around trading even in the low levels since there is no set currency. Having a full respect at level 30 will diminish some of that trading.

If you cant handle the fact that you will have to grind alot or that you will have to start new character because of some wasted skill points than you should stop now.
All the good ol' response. You do not dissapoint.

Yea i know is kind of retarded answer to give, but its the fact.

I dont eat some types of vegetables because my digestive system cant handle it. (not really but its an example).
You cant please everyone, and this is the type of players GGG wants to attract.

Younger players are getting spoiled because things might be hard to do or would take time to do, so why not give them lvl100 chars from start, with best gear and enough skill points to fill the whole tree.

I might sound mad or irritated, but i am not. I would just wish for ppl not simplify games just for the sake of new players. Let them learn something on their own. And if they are really lazy to test and experiment let them at least browse forums for best solution.

The reason why this games skill tree is great is because when you exit the game you can still "play" it, by planning, thinking... thinking is not a bad thing, and if ppl with work can find time to play this game as it is intended to be played i dont see why wouldnt the young ones who have more free time.

EDIT: An idea. Put huge text in red in skill tree saying: DO NOT PLACE A SINGLE POINT UNTIL YOU ARE SURE!
that would solve alot of things, and ppl who put skill points without thinking cant complain cause they have been warned.

I definitly share your opinion, I yelled Eureka when I found out about GGG - PoE. And instantly decided to support them. There are to few old school games and to many new "newb friendly" games imo, I hope they keep going their own direction :)

It is pretty clear that full respecs are not desirable for this game.

On the other hand, GGG has stated at least a modest desire to make the skill tree accessible to newbies. One of their stated goals when redrawing it was to help prevent newbies from botching their build early on. In a thread discussing the new tree, I commented that this was not a good reason (although there may be other good reasons for this same redesign).

I believe that one better way to help newbies is more respec points. But, this should be done in a way that does not "nerf" the game for experienced players.

One way is to give respec points that expire. For example, 15 or so that vanish upon reaching act 2 or act 3 of normal (when there is an act 3 of course). Or upon reaching a specified level, etc.

Or perhaps respec points that are allocated per account, rather than per character. Say, 20 for a new account. This should be enough for newbies to get on the learning curve, and still not really affect balance much for experienced players.

Personally the existing methods (quests, orbs) are enough for me. But there are other options for newbies if that is desired.

No they aren't, as that would be lame, and GGG is not lame.

It's a tough decision on GGG's part. Selling respec points (more likely in batches of 5-10) could be considered pay to win, which they have always opposed. On the other hand, I have no doubt that this would be a very popular purchase, and therefore a good source for revenue for GGG. I wonder what they will do.

I dont think GGG will sell this in shop. My opinion is that they will stick to the cosmetic as they said.
Trespassers will be shot survivors will be shot again!
they should at least allow during the beta to have a respec..(maby time limited say once every week orso)

how on earth you gonne test tings out when your at least at high lvl are stuck with your tree and it takes to long to get all the skill refund items
Beta is also for testing currency & economy, which respecs (via Orbs or Regret) are a part of.

Whether you agree with the current model or not, the feedback you are currently providing is pertinent to the full game. If they allowed full respecs for the beta, feedback on Orbs or Regret would skewed, and could be of questionable value.
I am against easy respeccing. If builds can be changed easily, they are no builds, just "forms" that can be taken for individual instances as it suites the needs of a player and that would take away the need to "think".
