It doesn't really matter.
Unless you're a statistical outlier, you're not going to spend a lot of time researching the game, class, stats, and gear on their website before making your first character. This means your first character will be a an exercise in learning from mistakes and beginning to truly understand the game and its mechanics. A 'pure' class would probably be a good choice (witch, marauder or ranger.) Not much of a difference though, go for whatever you want to play!

It will vary somewhat but as someone said, Marauder Witch
Templar, not necessarily in that order because ymmv. For myself a summoner/castor Templar feels easiest and enjoyable. |

It depends in your prior experience with aRPG's.
I started a Duelist and had no problem at all, but because of some freaky stutter switched for a witch which works fine. Besides, if you mess your 1st char, you can save the gems and items for the second. At least I already have ideas for a 2nd and 3rd witch :D Have fun! |

" SO NOT TRUE...my first and current toon is Shadow and I hardly die! don't believe what people say just try it out yourself. There is no right and wrong and skill trees are pretty much plausible to develop your toon into whatever you like. I just play traps and then one hand then bow... shadow is wicked! |

i usually play a warrior class in any rpg game 1st, but here i'm still confused. warrior type is marauder, templar or duelist? (downloading the game right now)
