You should get the pet until you TP back to town, at which point an in-game GGG rep NPC can rescue it and put it back in the MTX Kennel until someone adopts it in the store...

Edit: I feel like if this were any other F2P game, a choice dialog would pop up when you kill a rogue with a pet and be like "Do you want to purchase this pet?" and then link you to the store lol...

I want the pet of the rogue I killed!! Why can"t I have it :(

The guy above me that recommended we get to have the pet until we portal to town had the right idea. I would even extend that idea further by letting us have it for the remaining game session. I think this would be beneficial. This would allow us to try out how we feel about having a constant companion and maybe we might purchase it afterwards. Beneficial to GGG. And the white kiwi is not available in the store right now. Have it be an Anarchy exclusive (at least for the league duration, at the end of four months it goes to the Microtransaction Store).

one cool thing would be if the pet would get capthured and chaind to you for the next 2 hours or so,
then you could go to town and show off with a trail of pets in chains

So you explode the corpse of the pet's owner right in front of it, and the pet kills itself in anguish, and that solves the problem of this being sad. Sounds about right...

Very cool ideas here! If GGG implement them all leagues would be deserted, everyone would come to save little poor pets. Anyways, we definitively must find a solution to this issue. Chris come to say a word please :)

Rogue pets should definitely follow you after you kill their masters. Except increase the distance to about half the screen away, and make them skitter away if you get too near them. No matter where you go (for the rest of the play session, or maybe 2-3 days) they will dog your every step, following you with dead eyes. Entering towns would get rid of them for a little while, for their former masters taught them well. Towns do not take well to the likes of Rogues. No matter where you go though, they will track you down. Within a few minutes of leaving a town they skitter in from outside your screen, once again taking a safe distance from you, simmering in hatred. Always watching. Always.
