Hi,
I am trying to follow this build build, I am total newb, this witch is my first character, currently lvl 39 and I want it to be the main farmer to equip my other future chars. I have a couple of questions, I would be grateful if u could answer those: 1) Should I start using the totem immediately when I get it (after killing Merveil on cruel)? 2) At which point should I get the Ancestral Bond? 3) When should I start buying the 20% quality gems? I currently have like no currency to effort anything:( 4) I am currently using w/e I can to kill enemies as I dont have the totem yet, but I feel like I am doing no progress and I have like no currency at all, neither I am finding many upgrades to my gear...my wand for example has 30% spell damage and I found it in act I normal and throughout whole game I havent found a single upgrade to it...when should I start farming? At Merciless and dont bother with it on cruel, just run through and progress with party (as this is the only way for me to kill the end bosses)? Will I be able to get this whole thing going or its not possible as I have no currency/items? any help appreciated 5) Is there any specific cheap and powerful equipment I should be buying or I shouldnt buy anything until later acts on Merciless? any help appreciated |

" 1. You can start using dual totems around mid to late 40s but you won't be able to use Righteous Fire till around 60. You will need to stay with groups for leveling until that point. After 60 you can murder everything on your own if you choose to. 2. See above. 3. If you don't have currency that that answers itself. I bought them soon as I could. You can snag 10-15% gems for 1-3 GCP by searching the forums and spamming trade chat. If you get those at low level, as you acquire wealth you can up them to 20% yourself over time. 4. Rely on groups. Your gear is probably pitiful right now. Let other help you gain levels and gear. You may have to spend more time farming ledge/felshrine/docks than those of us who have been playing for longer, but the drops will come. 5. I saved every bit of my currency when leveling. Soon as I hit 60 I bought a nice set of gear. When I hit 80 I upgraded several MF pieces, but most of the gear for this build is low level stuff I have been wearing since ~60. POExplorer is a good place to find deals what I wear. Nothing I have was pricey except for the Shavs which I got as a drop. PM me or find me in game if I win. It's hard to keep track of all my bids.

after this most recent patch... now what the heck do we do with this build? no malachai switch? sweet baby jesus help me :/

I think malachai will be useless with new patch :(
I lose lot of my farming time switching everytime i join an area. The combo is still possible, but not viable. It's better link some gear and use blood magic skill with the auras. |

I just tried the new patch with malachai. No problems really. Sure, it takes a few more seconds to get ready when entering a new area, and you have to carry around the helm but it is very very minor change.

It shouldn't be too difficult to get all 4 auras running with blood magic gems if needed. It will probably be necessary to use a lower level Clarity gem though. I leave the testing of this to others.

Looking at tretiak101's post I derive this:
Edited for correcting my math. If you use a lower level clarity say level 10 which is 240 "mana". You can run haste and clarity off blood so long as you have 759 life (assuming level 20 BM and RM gems) leaving 2 life left. (240*1.96)*.71 = 334 : (40*1.96)*.71 = 55.7% : (759 * [1-55.7%]) - 334 = 2 life remaining Mana can run vitality, purity and discipline. With level 20 gems for all, assume you have 650 total mana you'd end up with having 216 mana for casting. 80% * .71 = 56.8% : 215*.71 = 153 : (650 * [1-56.8%]) - 153 = 128 mana remaining I don't have level 20 gems but try that out. As you mentioned, leveling a clarity to 10 should be quick. You could level a little more too depending on your total mana. Makes getting Prestdigitation great as you get 8% mana then mana regen and cast speed. Mana regen will be important (unless you spam the unique flask anyhow in which case you likely already use a lower level clarity and the setup doesn't change). I'm working with just one lvl18 blood magic and am able to run all of my aura's and leave me with enough mana to function. here's my current set-up:
leaves me with 26hp and 228mana. no switch necessary, and no stupid mask in my inventory :D That's what I do- I drink and I know things.
