^Thanks. It was inappropriate.

Please keep question relevant to my build, my items, my skills, my passives, my character in general or lightning mages in general. This way we can stay on topic, and I can try to answer all of your questions all in one guide. If you need to request help for YOUR build, please refrain from posting it here, and simply send me a private PM, and I will gladly visit your post or respond as best I can in kind.

This look like a LOT of fun. Looking forward to more detailed information!
^It Is a load of fun! Hey guys. Bumping because I added an overview of how the templar works in action. I know its sloppy right now, but I wanted to give yall... something.

Anyway, next step is to create a little section for each skill, and explain why I use the supports I do, when I use the skill, how much damage it does, the math involved with crit/shock added, etc etc.

Also, I invite anyone who wants to see the templar in action, to simply add me IGN:ThyRabidTemplar . This will be a lot easier than doing videos to help along the guide. Maybe one day, an interested youtube caster will come hang out with me, like my build, and do us all the favor of posting it to youtube so I can link to it here. Until then, I will eventually load up the game with steam, and take a few screen shots, and then just link right to those. But until I do that, that was the purpose of my first edit to the guide, was to give y'all a little.... mental picture of my lightning templar warping around like a boss, melting faces, being a beast.

Update: I am currently applying this build to a cold templar on anarchy. If you study the passive path, you can see that it can be 'tweaked' to any of the three elements. One day, I actually plan on making a tri-elemental templar, because why not?

I just have to think up what spells would work best together.

Anyway, I am on the fence about the guide. Most people have no interest in using more than one skill, and I have not received a lot of feedback. I do however feel like I have stumbled upon something great, and if it goes unappreciated I will simply remove the guide entirely, and keep the basics to myself, and to those close to me. If I do decide to do this, I will always keep my passive trees and gear (which includes the gems) on my store page; So feel free to keep that bookmarked ^_^

I for one would appreciate it if you didn't remove the guide. I'm trying out some of your ideas now, with my own personal tweaks. Tons of fun!

One of the reasons you're probably not getting a great deal of feedback is due to the fact that people love baby steps. Most guides have a lvl 30 break down, 50, etc...They also go into greater detail.

I personally like to just have a generalized guide that you have presented here.

Thank you for the feedback! I have plans on making the guide more detailed, with more steps to it. Problem is: I landed a job about the same time I started the guide. I'm working full time now, and I also have loads of chores to do around the house. So when I actually get time to play, I don't feel like doing the guide ^_^ .

The thing with the passive tree is: It's so beautiful, that you can kind of get anything you want, in whatever order. In non-hardcore leagues, I've been going right for the crit/power charges, basically rushing all the way over to the crit by the shadow tree, then filling in the armor/es/hp nodes after that. I tend to save throatseeker till later on, and also save the 3 lightning specific nodes above witch till later as well.

Again, thanks for the feedback. Next thing I will be adding are some passive tree breakdowns, and thoughts on certain points of it.

EDIT: Couldn't help myself. Sat down for an hour and did a basic breakdown of the tree, along with thoughts on it. Enjoy! And remember, you can apply this to any elemental you want. For example: Here is a taste of where my level 57 templar is in anarchy league

Headed into Armor/ES Nodes

Lol, I use so many skills, that I have been forced to set frost wall to left click. It only goes off if I click on a mob, or shift+click, but its still something to get used to! Also, I have dominate on my alt slot, so thats literally 9 skills I use actively! (Not counting my two auras, because I switch those on, then reset the skill slot back to the active spell)

This is interesting. I think I'll start gathering these gems and start lvling a new char tomorrow. Lighting Warp and discharge sounds fun. Zipping around going Boom! Too bad the spark totem doesn't generate charges for you, but that would be op...
Arc builds charges just fine. It helps to have a 10%+ power charge on crit, but surprisingly it doesn't seem to matter much. Oh, and the thing about this build is that you can collect the gems as you go, and as you find linked items. It's relatively easy to build. Just kinda build as you go, and you will do fine!

It's not a very expensive build either. I find that most people for some reason simply do not use armor/es gear, thus it is valued less.

Also, spork totem does an insane amount of damage, and once you get the two Static Blows passives, it keeps everything nice and shocked, allowing arc to literally rip through everyone. Throw in a little warp into a 7 charge BOOM... epic silly damage.
