Idea for Fetid Pools
No one likes having to chase down that last zombie who is hiding behind the tree in the corner.
Here's an idea: When you kill the necromancer guy, all of the enemies in the zone gain an aggro radus > the size of the map so they all come after you. This way people can kill the necro to lure them all in or wlk around hunting them down to fight them a few at a time. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

" Can you explain the logic behind this? I honestly can't picture anyone at the edge of their seat looking for that last creep... Last edited by TYRI_#6409 on Jul 20, 2012, 4:19:43 AM

I am frankly just .... very surprised that we have a "den of evil" in PoE. Didn't we learn 14-ish years ago that this is very annoying past the first completion? .. Some of the quest content in PoE surprises me.
The only aspect of the game I'm dissatisfied on. -- I don't have alpha access, that was a LONG time ago. Last edited by Zakaluka#1191 on Jul 20, 2012, 4:37:04 AM

I have no problem with the fetid pool - the necromancer fight combined with the skeleton roas is always a hard fight for my ranged char (two roa stampedes and I'm history...), when I finally managed to kill him off I find the relativly easyness in killing the rest as a nice reward :-)

All it really requires to successfully clear the Fetid Pools is some attentiveness. Only once in all of my 20+ clears of the Fetid Pool have I had trouble with the last enemy and it was because I was in a rush. Take your time, take it slow and it's very easy to clear all the mobs out in one pass. In essence it is the same as the Den of Evil from D2, except that the Fetid Pool is much easier to navigate and the map is always the same, and much, much smaller than the Den of Evil.

" I've also never had problems with Fetid Pool and making sure that every enemy in the area is dead, but this idea is interesting simply because I think it would make the area more fun. It is boring, not hard, killing the rest of the monsters in the zone. A message stating that all the monsters are aggro'd in the zone would help a player prepare for it. This mechanic could also be applied to other areas for a challenge, though they would have to be rather small. |

There's not much point in having a full-clear quest if all the enemies group up in one crowd, ready for your AoE attacks.
The quest in Fetid Pool is optional. You don't have to do it if you don't like the quest. You could come back when you're over-leveled to do it more quickly and easily. If you're one of the completionist types of video gamers, you're probably already used to going out of your way to do something you don't necessarily find extremely fun. Some players find the hunt fun. Others don't. It shouldn't be ruined for one group to make it easier for those who don't like it, especially since it's not a required quest. " But the question is, how many players DO find this fun? This is an issue that is at the expense of players that do NOT find this fun, mind you. I'm certain that the people that enjoy running around in circles for 5 minutes are the minority. |
