Are PoE forums custom-made?
Out of all the forum software I used, PoE's seems like the most lightweight one without any pointless extra features that barely anyone cares about.
Did GGG develop their own custom forum software to use on the website or did they use a pre-existing one? I've once hosted a Discourse forum and even though the stuff like an update GUI was nice, there was just a ton of bloat that required much more expensive servers to host. I'd like to host a forum again someday and whatever system PoE uses seems to be more fit for the job as I just need basic forum functions, nothing more. Last bumped on Aug 30, 2025, 5:39:14 PM

I believe they are. I also believe it had to be custom so you could easily link items. There wasn't always a trade site, and it's fun to show off. I seem to remember that but that was so long ago.
You got a point too, maybe GGG should sell the basic template for this forum style. Bring back regular forums! So tired of reddit and discord (pipe dream) |

" It's a shame that it's custom - it provides everything I want from a forum without all these extra bells and whistles. I would definitely pay GGG for the software. |

I dunno... PoE's forum isn't exactly 10/10. The Quote button doesn't "quote" on the first try most times, and have you tried to use the forum Search function? ='[.]'=

" I've personally never had problems with it - though granted, I haven't searched for posts much. |

" Hey, I actually got it this time lol, but you are right, it's almost always hit quote, and then hit back, and do it again lol. I still like these forums a lot. They and the people here kinda feel like the old internet. |

" I'd almost prefer the Quote function to fail consistently, rather than be hit and miss. ='[.]'= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/

" You can also just hit the browser refresh or F5 and the quoted text will appear in the blank box. |

" I think the Quote appears blank due to cashing/saving the replies (it doesn't happen on threads you viewing for the first time). its a really neat function to start a reply or post, exit the draft come back to it days later and its still there lol |
