Path of Gambling?

"
The rampant "gambling" follows the POE1 theme of a currency simulator with no endgame loot hunt (near every wearable endgame drop is a downgrade) and in which "crafting" is 20+ steps of "I need to beat incredibly bad RNG".

The reasoning for that is simple: "Crafting" is the biggest currency sink in the game. Nothing deletes currency, controlling economic inflation, faster than dumping tons of it into gear.

Think about it. There was a reason Harvest, the best crafting mechanic in the game, got gutted into uselessness. Chris originally said it was so you can feel the excitement of unironically yoloing exalts. Whether that statement is true is debatable, but crafting with exalts is still removing currency from the game.

And as such, this system is weighed against your odds of successful crafts. The worse your chances of creating something powerful for yourself or to sell, the more compelled you are to pump money into it. This has the added downside that only incredibly wealthy players with mirrors in their possession can feasibly create gear of similar value.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

My point is that gear in an ARPG comes from drops or from "crafting". Upgrades from drops ON THE GROUND generally don't exist in POE beyond an early mapping stage, and "crafting" is as described.

My point is that if "crafting" is the intended gearing path in endgame POE, then it needs to be way more deterministic and way less RNG. There is virtually nothing deterministic in POE "crafting" outside of the crafting bench recipes. It is possible to have more deterministic crafting outcomes that require higher input costs, so that currency is still taken out of the system.

POE is swung waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too far into the random side of everything with no compensation. The community's reply is then "well git gud son gotta play all day", like the people you see on twitch compilation videos.

I mean...have you looked at the mess they call "crafting" in this game (not at the bench)? This game was *ALWAYS* Path of Gambling.

+ this :D

they should actually rename the game to path of gambling imo :D

Strange. My stash wealth is 200d+ right now, and I didn't do a single thing that OP listed. That's because I don't gamble in this game.

I remember a youtuber saying this for currency farming years ago and it still holds true: Consistency is key. Don't gamble for big ticket items. The odds are stacked against you.

Do the following:
- Sell your div cards and the crystallised lifeforce
- Sell your Valdo's Puzzle Boxes
- Sell your Reliquary Keys
- Don't use Recombinator, sell items if they have valuable mods
- Don't gamble with gold
- Don't use map runners, stick to shipments
- Run low-risk atlas strats that can be easily farmed like essences in T6+ maps, strongboxes WITHOUT Containment scarab, or Harvest WITHOUT Awakening scarab
- Only run high-risk atlas strats IF your build is strong enough to comfortably tackle them, it's not worth it if you have to spend 6 portals clearing a map
- Sell your T17 maps, run T16.5 instead
- If you farm Incursions for building temples, sell the chronicles
- Run Exarch altars instead of Eater, less pay for consistent gains
- If you farm Eldritch bosses, sell your unID Forbidden Flame/Flesh jewels
- If you farm Elder or Uber Elder, sell your unID Watcher's Eyes
- If you farm Eagon's memory threads, sell the pinnacle boss invitations
- DON'T FUCKING CRAFT

Let some other poor sod blow away their currency gambling. You want currency? Play it safe.

I mean I use the recombinators all the time and its saving me like few hundred divines for full t1 prefixes trickster items even earlier in the league. So calling out recombinators is a bit weird, more likely they save you time and currency than anything.

Basic crafting with essences or harvest crafting easy to craft cluster jewels gives you a lot of currency for minimal investment... well we do play the game differently and that is fine.

This is an obvious one, unless you are doing it for the content. Just like roulette with the green zero, you cannot actually win this gamble, since there is a fixed cost of yellow juice. If you are doing this gamble long enough you will inevitably go broke, there is no way around it it is simple math.

You would need odds in your favor to justify the yellow juice costs, but i am pretty sure if anything the odds are not in your favor or they are evenly spread.

The rake(the yellow juice, hehe) is to damn high ;P

Reading your initial post I think the issue you're having is "gamble profit" vs "guaranteed profit" by that I mean, instead of opening puzzle boxes, keys, etc. Valdo box goes for 140c (at the time of this post), not sure about the keys probably 2 div or somewhere around.

Even Kingsmarch you can just toss in some rare/vaaled t16 maps and be grateful for the bubble-gum and sometimes divines that come out.

If you centralize your framework around "gamble profit" instead of "guaranteed profit" then yeah, you're 50/50 never going to have anything and subsequently be sour.

current "crafting" state is just really bad and for the rich people.

It always has been. We haven't had a good crafting system that poor players could use since Harvest league debuted and the time it returned, before GGG gutted it. And before then, it was still a mechanic exclusive to the rich.

Which is not so painful because there are plenty of non-expensive good endgame unique items to use in your slots.

Oh wait...

yeah i remember people buying remove-add life on tft for like 1ex later on the league, not to talk about the optimal way to build this dumb garden xD
