First Bex then Chris, now Rory has left, POE 1 is all but dead now. GGG is done.

throwing their wallets at the company

The thing is, they let players believe for four years that they were throwing money at a mechanical and visual upgrade of PoE1, with a new campaign and classes. Jonathan even admitting to him "knowing" this for a long time. So they kept taking money from PoE1 players and invested it into a game they never asked for - and didn't really know existed. And when that game turns out very different, people get hurt, disappointed and sometimes mad.

So, in a way you are right, supporting them was clearly bad for PoE1. A little bit of honesty from them would've gone a long way.

Good points. I'm from the group that loved the original 2019 idea (new skill gem system, new graphics + better boss fights, 2 campaigns, same endgame) and guess lots of people from the same group got pissed as well after finding out they abandoned PoE1 for a new game.

They/and me then tried PoE 2, noticed that melee is still dog pie and the game overall feels awkward (souls like gameplay but too much monsters chasing player characters to make it work) and now have two broken products in one way or another.

Would not be surprised if 3.26 is the final PoE 1 league ever and make it Legacy 2.0 but with a lore/league mechanic where it makes sense.

Then i guess GGG will salvage from eiter games the best parts and abandon one game (aka putting it to life support, servers still running + occasional bug fixes) and can now focus the meat of manpower on the new(or old) main product.
To me it kinda feels like the show is over already. If not, how come there hasn't been an announcement of the announcement of an announcement yet? And even if they do release 3.26, I doubt it would be enough to get the players back, unless it was an actually somewhat serious patch/expansion.

Yeah, seeing how few people came back for the current events, I think they have to cook up something special for 3.26 to bring people back, and I just don't see them doing that. They can then finally celebrate the death of the best ARPG for the last 10 years, and can (again) put all of their efforts into the vision which is PoE2.

Maybe PoE2 will take over that crown in 2-3 years, who knows.
Honestly, why would anyone come back to play those events?

It's just Settlers #4 or #5, I've lost count, with a few extra mechanics. Even the Gauntlet mods have been changed, so there's no reason to play that.
I don't think it's indicative of the anticipation of 3.26 in any way.

I've tried Phrecia and it was fun for a few days, but I just can't enjoy Settlers anymore.

/edit: Also it's not Events, in that its a big server with everyone playing. No, it's seperate private leagues that split the community. Trade is probably dead within a few days in those leagues. It's not the same as "real" events.

The YT algorithm is funny sometimes. It just recommended me a Ziz Interview from 5 years ago that didn't get alot of views.

For everyone who doesn't know who Rory is/was at GGG, it's a good watch.

It's an 18 Minute video with Rory and Rhys, titled "The people behind skills, bosses, and early zones - GGG Rory and Rhys"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsbzgJO-ZVI

I hope he's happy with his new project.
Didn't they leave to go join Last Epoch's team?
Huh.

Hm.

Oh well.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
Here is their excuse to delay 3.26 to 2026
