Dual Wield feels, lackluster
I wanted to make a Dual Wield duelist, so far I'm having a good time, but there are only 2 melee skills in the game that will use both your weapons when dual wielding. Dual Strike, and Cleave.
Because of this my options and my character seem locked into a certain playstyle. I would love to experiment with lightning strike + projectiles support gem, but since it doesn't use both weapons I'm left to ignore it because why dual wield if my skills wont use my offhand. My suggestion is either to make more skills use both weapons. There's no reason that Viper Strike, Whirling Blades, Lightning Strike, and Flicker Strike shouldn't have the ability to use both weapons. Should they be only Dual Wield skills? No, but currently the dual wield skill set is extremely lacking. Or add more DW only skills to the game. Hopefully this would be an easy fix, I think it would add a lot more variety to this play style. Right now it seems like I should just go 1h/shield, or 2 hander because there are more options. I understand why skills like Sweep should be 2hander only, and some skills should be 1hander only. I just think there should be more DW love!!! Actually, they don't ignore your off-hand weapon - they simply alternate (so long as both weapons allow that skill), at the higher inherent attack speed of dual-wielding.
Dual Strike and Cleave are simply the only implemented skills that use both weapons at once. I have wandered through insanity;
I have walked the spiral out. Heard its twisted dreamed inanity In a whisper, in a shout. In the babbling cacophony The refrains are all the same: "[permutations of humanity] are unworthy of the name!" |

I was unaware that they alternated at all, I'm used to skills using the main hand weapon unless otherwise stated.
If that's true then I guess maybe I'll try some of those skills then. But all those skills seem to have dramatically less DPS then Dual Strike, which is why I assumed I was losing something somewhere |

I think any skill that can be used with swords, daggers and claws must use both weapons expect lightning strike cause its be realy op. Not see any reason play in 1h+shield build with this type of weapons cause after damage rebalance its can do viable dps only dualwielded if not ele damage build and in skill tree many dw passives near this weapons spec clusters. Also be nice if dev's will prevent spawn elemental damage mods on swords, axes, maces and claws and increase physical damage of this weapons.

Dual wielding wands has 0 skill options, so be thankful that you have 2.

Would a wand user even want to use melee?
Not to mention that unless you're fighting wedding cakes, small sticks of wood don't make much of a dent, if one is to look at it logically. |

There we had a few dual wielding threads before, they also gone unnoticed, dual wield gets no love, but i think they would fix it after Act 3 is finished hopefully.

" One thing I've learned about GGG. A lack of official response does not mean something has been ignored. I've seen posts asking for something that got zero GGG attention at the time and was then added later with no fanfare at all. I think they like to surprise people that way. There is no doubt in my mind they're aware of the state of Dull Wielding right now. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

One thing dual wielding gives that is actually quite handy is the ability to combine skills for different weapon types in the same setup.
If you wield a mace and a dagger, for instance, you can use both Ground Slam and Whirling Blades. Personally I would love to be able to dual wield a wand with a melee weapon, so you can have a ranged attack and still use some melee skills, but that isn't currently possible (and it would need some new features to work properly, like binding a button to attack with specificly the mainhand or specificly the offhand). |

" I hope so, but then again i still have doubts necessarily, hehe. For the reason that Chris had asked that question just a couple of days ago, remember;

" Appearantly even things that is obviously like that could be gone unnoticed so easily, especially when a thing that plays VERY LARGE role on "balance" i had really really surprised by this question tbh :) "This is too good for you, very powerful ! You want - You take"
