What did they do with soul-eater?

Not only am I seeing the affix way more often this league, but soul-eater mobs are a complete slog to deal with now. Not more difficult, just takes too long to kill them because after a few seconds of corpse gobbling it's like they almost stop taking damage altogether. WAY too tanky even without combining it with any of the various recovery of defensive mods.
General discussion gaming forums are almost always a cesspit of ignorance and trolls.

That's some serious bullshit. This means that every soul eater mob will have almost perma-90% damage reduction. There is zero way to mitigate this. It's really stupid to have an affix on a rare mob that makes it more tanky than pinnacle bosses.

Not perma. They lose stacks over time, like players, instead having it forever like it was in the past.

They only lose stacks if they don't get any more for at least 4 seconds. I always have corpses, which means perma.

Its not corpse. Its "soul". It needs to kill something. If you are DD and spamming desecrate all the time, it wont do anything. But if you play Skeletons/SRS for example, Im pretty sure those will count as "souls".
