Ok. For those of you who haven't bought or played this game yet. Stop right there and save your money for a better game.
Did you like Diablo 1? If so, then Reinstall it and play it again, because thats basically ALL you'll be doing with the 2nd version.
They keep the same graphics and put in some new classes, with different skill progression. A few more creatures, more levels of course, and a storyline.
I tell you what. If it didn't take them 2 years to make a clone of the first game. Then I wouldn't be flaming them.
Some quick BAD points.
Graphics 640x480 only. Get real. Why the #&@! did I buy my Geforce2 then?
Battle.net always down and unstable. Sure glad they had the stress tests!!
You need over 64 megs of ram, otherwise your S.O.L. because the game will chop out on you, especially in large battles (Thank god I have 320 megs!)
I'm done complaining because its given me a headache.
I am so disappointed that I paid 55 dollars for this piece of sh** game, that after 3 days I was already sick to death of playing because I finished it.

It doesn't matter how good D3 is.. there will be hate.. no matter what.. it's too popular franchise and vocal minority is always..you know..vocal..but it's not problem just D3..all popular franchises are going through same hell.. it's true..many times vocal minority represents even silent majority and game will tank. But is this case of D3? I don't know..but I am doubtful.

One thread, and not even on a gaming board...that's it?

If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

read that thread if you want.. also there are couple of dead links for another whiny threads.. and battle.net forums were full of Diablo 2 failure when it was released ..I was there.....it was literally bad as it is now. Yet, Diablo 2 became a prototype of perfect ARPG games.. does it mean something? I don't know. Just pointing on that..that's it.

I haven't tried Diablo 3 yet but I can guess where is the problem. It seems like the Blizzard fellas changed the essence of what the old franchise followers where expecting from the game. Probably if they released this game as another one with different aesthetics and name, the whole bunch would have prized it, but it doesn't represent (at first sight at least) what a lot of people (me one of them btw) where expecting. In fact the "competition" of blizzard (Torchlight 2 and Path of Exile) seem to have filled the space that the old Diablo players would have loved to see in the original saga. Well...sometime I will test Diablo 3 and have a more elaborated opinion.

PD: Someone else expecting TL2 (aside from PoE obviously)?

in D2 vanilla & LOD we had the whinne for the uniques, for the drops, for the capped MF, for every damn patch, for the stash, for the colours and for the easyness compared to D1 (just like today), for the skills, for the cookie cutter builds, for the synergies and countless other things do you really dont remember?

And no, it's not ironic, because Diablo was always a single player game, forcing players to be online to play D3 is straying from the base design.

No, it is ironic. D3 is an online game aswell. The downsides of always online is the same in both PoE and D3.

D2 was best when played online, so that's what they focused on.
Oh, come on. This online-only business has been argued well enough elsewhere. PoE *needs* to be online just to make any money. It has three things that D3 does not: continual addition of content, the dynamic nature of its 'league' system and of course the cosmetic purchases that will fund the game itself, since it has something else D3 doesn't: a lack of price-tag up-front.

These alone completely justify Path of Exile being online-only.

Take them away and yes, an offline Path of Exile would be viable -- but only if you released a 4 act version, fully voice acted with a fleshed-out story, balanced from a prolonged closed beta period, all six classes complete with over a hundred skills to use and far, far more combinations than that thanks to the support gem system, a robust but optional online system for group play, and generally enough content to last until an expansion.

And then stuck a one-off price-tag on it. GGG gets their profit (hopefully), we get a game we can either play by ourselves or with others...and everyone's happy.

Of course, I have just described Diablo 3 as many of us felt it should have been. A Diablo 3 that Blizzard's greed, which is becoming much harder to deny as the months roll on, could not have possibly created.

A Diablo 3 many more of us could have loved.

The downsides are still the same. If it destroys one game, it will destroy the other.

No, because I don't have to pay to play PoE.

Well i do not think Diablo 3 is a bad game. A lot of new things in D3 are good and necessary to become a modern game.
I like graphics in D3, atmosphere and a lot of good action you can find there.

But i do not like the other things, core things, that made Diablo 2 legendary. These things are Reward system, itemization, level cap that you can reach so easily, and replayability.

That is why D3's end game is sooooo bad. That's not really funny.

I had fun playing diablo 3, but expected epic end game. I am dissapointed.

And .... Almost nobody likes grinding gold, it's annoying. The other thing are elites in D3 with funny skills :-D lasers, shields... Are we in Star Wars or ? Its sad to see thing like that in D3.
