Why I love Diablo 3

I'm getting sick of all the anti-Diablo 3 posts on this forums, and everywhere in general. When I go to this forum to discuss Path of Exile, it doesn't take long before I get the impression Diablo 3 is an abomination that single-handedly ruined Blizzard, got everyone who works there fired and forced them to live on the streets in shame. I'd sad how much people can complain so much about something they don't like. I've tried ignoring it a best I can, but it's far too much. If you don't like Diablo 3, don't play it. It's that simple. Why anyone wants to go online and post on countless forums day in and day out how much they hate it is beyond me. It's just a freakin' game!

I'm also sick of standing up for the game. I used to enjoy coming to forums, but I'm leaving this forum for some time after I write this. It's just ridiculous how much people whine. Just check the topics on these forums, and you see what I mean. And this isn't even the Diablo 3-forums! So to try to at least do something positive before I leave, I'll tell you exactly why I love Diablo 3. Not sure why I bother, though.

- The graphics are awesome. No, it's not photo-realistic, and no, it's not fully 3D and all that crap. What it is, is stylish. The entire game, from the smallest rock to the bosses to the characters are all made with a nice style that suits the game.

- The skill system is forgiving, without dumbing it down. You get new skills or runes every single level all the way up to the top level. How many other games do you know who does that? Not many, I'd say. (adding a skillpoint or stat point now and then don't count.) You can swap skilsl whenever you want, so you are free to experiment and try all sorts of skills to find something you like. It lets you play around and test skills you otherwise wouldn't, but it never forces you to do it. Path of Exile does the same thing with the skill gems. Don't like the skill? Replace it with another. No need to start a new character.

- The story... well, we can't have everything. Hehe.

- The whole loot vs Auction House works pretty nicely. No, you don't get as much loot as in the older games, but you can use the AH to get stuff now, too. This is the weakest part of the game, yes, but they are working on it. Besides, you don't *need* to use the AH if you don't want to. Not even on Inferno.

- The classes are very different and quite interesting. I wa in a group with a Witch Doctor who focused on minions. I was a Witch Doctor with no minions at all - and we are just as good. How many other games do you know that let you create so radically different classes? Maybe Path of Exile, but I'm not so sure. A Witch will always be a Witch, deep down. You can have a Witch with a two-handed sword, but she won't be any good with it.

- The multiplayer is excellent. It feels more like an MMO than 'just co-op', or even single player. But so what? You can switch between solo and groups at any time, even with the character you are playing. You can keep in touch with your friends even if you are both playing solo. We no longer have the offline or online-stuff from the two previous games. And seriously, why is online-only such a big deal in 2012? If you for some reason can't get internet access, the problem is on your end, not the game.

- The challenge is spot-on. The first difficulty level is easy enough, but gets challenging (at least for newbies) later on. Nightmare and Hell are much harder, and Inferno gives most people a big challenge. Many people can't even finish it. Sadly, this makes them whine like babies on the forums because the game is too hard. Boo-freakin'-hoo.

- It's not a game they kick out the door and forget about. They are activly working on it, and they are planning on doing it for years. Don't like the game now? Come back in six months, or a year. Don't permanently ignore the game after it's been out three weeks and say it's crap.

All in all, I love Diablo 3, and I will keep loving it for years to come. And I'll be playing Path of Exile, Torchlight 2, Grim Dawn and Heroes of Ruin a lot, too. We fans of Action RPG's have a great time ahead of us. Just ignore the crybabies on the forums who hate Diablo 3 for some reason or other. The important thing to keep in mind is that people who love the game rarely bother go to a forum to tell everyone that they love it, or why they love it. The people who sits on forusm are the ones who hate the game, and they are not exactly the majority of the players. No matter how much they complain on the forums, they are the minority. Which, ironically, makes them overlooked, and thus they complain even more.

If you love the game so much, why aren't you playing it?

Overall it's a good game, but Blizzard ruins it :-j

i disagree... sure she wont be as good as a maurauder due to tree location but she would still be good.

yeah, thats because they pushed the game out the door early with core aspects like PVP unimplemented.

D3 would have been fine called anything else but D3 ....
the game blizz put out is good, but its not (to me) the sucessor to D1 & D2.

It's too short for my tastes, and the AH may or may not work depending on the position of the stars, the weather and the capricious gods of Battle.net.
EU servers gave me nothing but error 37, US/Asian servers lag to the point of game breaking levels (had to abandon the idea of hardcore chars fairly quickly), and the RMAH has pretty much made pay2win the focal point of the game.

When my account got hacked and all gold/items were lost - even though I only played single player - I deleted the game on the spot and spent a couple of minutes staring into the wall, wishing every firstborn of every Blizzard employee would get run over by a bus in front of them.

The game itself was decent. I'll rate it 3 out 5 Hasselhoff-speedos.

The amount of D3 hate on these forums pales when compared to the amount of D3 hate on their own forums. 99% of D3 hate here is when someone comes on to either praise it (lack of tact to praise a competitors game) or to rip into PoE.

Oh please. You are allowed to like more than one thing in the world. There's an off-topic forum here specifically so people can discuss things other than Path of Exile.

Tell that to those of us in Oceania without a local server. Sure, it's the same with PoE, but this game is free to play.
