What are good ways to excel in POE?

Saw the passive tree, alt+f4, and after a couple of days of lurking the forums, and watching some guides.. I decided to ask chatgpt and kept pressing when something was left way too general:

Title: The Ultimate Wealth Creation Strategy in Path of Exile!
Spoiler

Hey Exiles,

If you're looking to amass mass wealth in Path of Exile, I've got a strategy that can skyrocket your currency and turn you into a prosperous player. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to achieve financial success:

Step 1: Research the Meta
Stay up to date with the game's meta by following popular streamers, reading forums, and checking patch notes. Understanding which items, skills, and builds are currently in demand will give you a competitive edge when it comes to making profitable trades.

Step 2: Master the Trading System
Become a savvy trader by studying the in-game economy. Learn the value of different currencies, items, and rarities to ensure you make fair trades and maximize your profits. Utilize trade websites and tools to find underpriced items or popular items with high demand.

Step 3: Farm Efficiently
Find a build that allows you to clear content quickly and efficiently. By optimizing your farming efficiency, you'll increase your chances of finding valuable items, currency drops, and maps. Focus on efficient layouts like Burial Chambers or Glacier to maximize your farming potential.

Step 4: Flipping and Arbitrage
Keep an eye out for undervalued items on trade websites or in-game trade channels. Buy items that are listed below their market value and resell them for a higher price. This method, known as flipping, can generate substantial profits if done correctly. Similarly, look for price discrepancies between different trading platforms and take advantage of arbitrage opportunities.

Step 5: Crafting and Syndicate Manipulation
Master the art of item crafting by learning the intricacies of the game's crafting system. Identify valuable base items and use currency, Essences, and crafting mods to create powerful and sought-after items. Additionally, delve into the Syndicate mechanic and manipulate it to your advantage to generate valuable items and currency.

Step 6: Divination Cards and Prophecies
Keep an eye out for valuable Divination Cards and Prophecies that can yield high-value items or currency when completed. Acquire these cards through farming or trading, and sell the completed sets for a handsome profit. Utilize Prophecies to enhance your farming runs and increase your chances of finding valuable drops.

Step 7: Flipping Currency and Reselling
Monitor the currency market and identify opportunities for flipping currency. Buy low and sell high to generate consistent profits. Additionally, keep an eye out for popular meta-currency items that are in high demand, such as Exalted Orbs or Chaos Orbs, and resell them for a profit.

Remember, wealth creation in Path of Exile requires patience, knowledge, and dedication. Adapt to the ever-changing economy, stay informed, and continuously refine your strategies to stay ahead of the competition.

Good luck, Exiles, and may your pockets overflow with exorbitant riches!

Title: Crafting and Syndicate Manipulation for Wealth Generation in Path of Exile!
Spoiler

Hey Exiles,

Crafting and Syndicate Manipulation are two powerful methods that can help you generate wealth in Path of Exile. Here's a breakdown of how they work:

Crafting:
Crafting involves enhancing base items by using various currency items, Essences, and crafting mods to create valuable and sought-after items. Here's a step-by-step guide on crafting:

Identify valuable base items: Research and understand which base items have high demand and value in the current meta. This could include weapons, armor, accessories, or even flasks.

Obtain the base item: Acquire the desired base item either by farming, trading, or purchasing from other players.

Use currency items: Utilize different currency items such as Exalted Orbs, Chaos Orbs, Divine Orbs, and Fusing Orbs to modify the item's properties. Experiment with different currency combinations to achieve desired outcomes.

Utilize Essences: Essences are special currency items that add specific mods to an item when used. They come in different tiers, and each tier provides different potential mods. Use Essences strategically to add valuable mods to your item.

Augment and Regal Orbs: Augment and Regal Orbs are used to add or upgrade mods respectively. Use them to further enhance the item's properties and increase its value.

Master the Meta: Stay updated with the current meta and understand which mods are highly sought after by players. By crafting items with desirable mods, you can sell them for a significant profit.

Syndicate Manipulation:
The Syndicate is a powerful mechanic introduced in the Betrayal expansion. Manipulating the Syndicate allows you to generate valuable items, currency, and rewards. Here's how it works:

Encounter Syndicate members: While progressing through the game, you'll encounter Syndicate members in various zones. Interact with them to trigger Syndicate encounters.

Gather intelligence: During Syndicate encounters, you have the opportunity to capture or interrogate Syndicate members. Choose the options that provide valuable intelligence on their positions and rewards.

Plan your manipulation: Use the intelligence gathered to strategically manipulate the Syndicate board. Move members around, promote or demote them, and influence the rewards they offer.

Optimize rewards: Aim to create optimal outcomes on the Syndicate board that grant valuable rewards. This may include currency items, high-level maps, Divination Cards, or unique items.

Execute your plan: Once you have set up the Syndicate board to your advantage, execute the plan by defeating Syndicate members in targeted encounters. This will grant you the rewards you've planned for.

By mastering the art of crafting and Syndicate manipulation, you can create valuable items and generate substantial wealth in Path of Exile.

Best of luck, Exiles, and may your crafting endeavors and Syndicate schemes bring you endless prosperity!

Title: Staying Informed in Path of Exile Crafting without Streamers and Forums!
Spoiler

Hey Exiles,

Staying informed in Path of Exile crafting is crucial for mastering the meta and generating wealth. While streamers and forums are excellent sources of information, there are alternative ways to stay updated and knowledgeable. Here are some strategies to stay informed without relying on streamers and forums:

Patch notes and official updates: Regularly check the official Path of Exile website for patch notes, news, and updates. These sources provide valuable information about balance changes, skill adjustments, and new mechanics. Stay attentive to any changes that could affect the meta or crafting strategies.

Community-created content: Explore websites, blogs, and social media platforms that focus on Path of Exile. Many community members and content creators share guides, strategies, and analysis of the game. Look for reliable and knowledgeable individuals who provide insightful content on crafting and the meta.

In-game discussions: Engage with other players in global chat or guild chats. Strike up conversations about crafting, item values, and meta trends. Some players are knowledgeable and willing to share their insights and experiences. Respectful and active participation in in-game discussions can yield valuable information.

Experimentation and personal research: Dedicate time to experimenting with different crafting methods and item combinations. Test out different modifiers, currency items, and crafting techniques to understand their effects. Keep track of your results and observations. This hands-on approach will provide you with firsthand knowledge and insights.

Item analysis and trading platforms: Utilize trade websites and tools to analyze market trends and item values. These platforms often provide data on popular item affixes, price fluctuations, and demand patterns. By analyzing the trends in the trade market, you can infer the meta and crafting preferences of the player base.

Join active communities in-game: Seek out active and knowledgeable communities within the game. Join guilds, social groups, or communities that focus on crafting and item trading. Engage with experienced players who can share their expertise and insights. Collaborating with like-minded individuals can keep you informed and up to date.

Remember, while streamers and forums are valuable resources, you can still stay informed and knowledgeable about crafting and the meta through alternative means. Adapt these strategies to suit your playstyle and preferences.

Best of luck, Exiles, and may your self-driven exploration and resourcefulness lead you to limitless wealth!

As a new player it makes sense, but I know chatgpt's offers a lot of pseudo-knowledge. So even if this makes sense to me, I'm sure there are a lot of pitfalls.

Personally, the "Staying Informed" feels overwhelming. Just, by browsing forums and watching streamers? That's an insurmountable backlog of information to process, not to mention the countless hours of streams and YouTube tutorials. I wonder if there is a concise place to get information. Most of the websites I've found are just gaming magazines. No real data there and a bunch of links you need to keep going through. By the time you finish reading something you are left in a daze.

Well... that's it I guess. Let me know what you think.

so even chatgpt knows the best way to play the game is not to play the game...
xD
Well, those results is exactly what always happens if you ask chatgpt. It is able to find information amd process it to provide a grammatically sound text that is mostly easy to understand. But it lacks where it matters: It cannot make proper decisions, it cannot draw conclusions and its information stay on the surface.

Learn the value of currency, maximize your profits, find builds that clear quickly and efficiently... All those are purely empty phrases that will be correct in ANY game with trade and the target to kill monsters and the worst thing is they dont help you improve.

Also, in all that walls of text the literally best option to make currency, at least if you are not going full hideout warrior, is actually missing, and this is experience from past leagues. Once you study the meta and find something valuable your margins are most likely not as high as the ones from people who anticipated it. Just a quick example of two things: ilvl 50-67 attack based 8 passive large clusters. Early league 15-20c. Later 1.5div. Many people drop those in the early stages of the league, yet the later it gets the market availability plummets vs the demand. Same thing for gift to the goddess, buy them at 35c early, sell 12 days later for 1.2div. Same goes for the opposite direction. U want to play Darkscorn as a stsrter? Possible, but its worth 3div early league and keeps dropping after. Roll it as 2nd char.

Only experience teaches u stuff like this so keep on learning from season to season.
It told you to do some really not nice stuff to get ahead.

See an item cheaper than it should be?! fix that price by buying it and reselling it for more!
^Noticed this trend with ANYTHING of remote value these days when it only used to be for perfect or near perfect rolls, its specifically become a cancer on the game because instead of things being at their actual price some items are all just 1Div no matter the roll because of this behavior.

what a comedy.
Innocence forgives you

using excel over PoB makes one excel at it i think x'D
"Now all that's left is for you getting on your knees."
if you know thanks me:) i'm dying to find out x'D
You could get the same generic result using google.
ChatGPT is the surest way I know of damaging your brain without falling face first to the ground.
Don’t worry about all that market shit and just play the game.

With experience you will learn to play better. Once you have the basics down, then you worry about stuff like what’s profitable.

The most important thing you can do to excel is get faster(doesn’t matter if that’s trading or farming) and that only comes with experience. If it was something that could be tutorialized to the point where experience doesn’t matter, it would not be a very fun game.
Step 1: Start up Excel

Step 2: Track all your farming progress in PoE, using Excel

Step 3: ???

Step 4: Profit

Okay, only partially kidding. For real though, PoE is a data-driven game, and the more you grind, the more patterns you can detect in seemingly random and infrequent-to-rare drop behaviours.

If you just want to kill stuff and watch numbers go up, playing the campaign solo and taking your time to kick all the tires and smell all the flowers along the way, works just fine. This means also being free to make mistakes and have to fix your character, or undo a bunch of clunky choices, or retire the poor thing and roll a fresh toon.

Don't worry about what level you are or rushing to beat a deadline or focusing on Kitava this or that. First time you play through, let yourself level up 5-10 levels above the monsterlevel of the zone you're in. You'll notice it's more manageable with a few extra skill points even if you're not on the steep face of the curve for Xp per hour.

Following a guide helps a lot. Some guides are better than others, and some skills are better suited for the game's main mechanics than others.

Read the tutorials in-game. Ask questions if you're stuck, unless you've turned off global chat in disgust. They're not a lavishly commented walkthrough vid, but they're nominally helpful. This game is geared towards math and engineering types with the level of complexity and obfuscation; that hasn't stopped idiots like me from learning by dozens of catastrophic fuckups, to live and thrive in the game.

There's a wiki, use it as needed: PoeWiki.net

Focus on building around one main skill, but with support from other skills that can be automated in some cases. Curses, auras, spells that cast when a trigger condition is met, flasks that apply themselves when a trigger condition is met, and minion buffs and auras can help turn a cool but weak skill into a workhorse. Some guides go into great detail how to do this so you have enough mana to go around for all these things to support your character.

Play SSF to start with if you're on your own and this is your first trip through the lovely sewers and intestines of Wraeclast. If you're with friends, or someone has suckered you into the game and you started in trade league, work together because that is the SINGLE MOST POWERFUL way to play PoE. Collective effort and pooling resources/risk will help you get around most, if not all, the limitations of the loot grind. There's an entire subgame of economics that plays itself out with each new league. If that's what floats your boat, you'll face heavy competition from big and well-organized clans - join them, or make your own.

At the end of the day if you're not having fun or not seeing anything in the game that holds your interest, don't force it.
