Legends of Dawn - awesome sandbox RPG -> now on Kickstarter!!

EDIT
Well this indie team ran out of money when the game was all but finished. So now they got a kickstarter project here http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/522716131/legends-of-dawn so they can put Voice Over into the game and do finishing touches.
And if KS is successful it comes out in February 2013!!
Come on lets help them. New trailer in on KS link I put here. Note: this is a SP RPG for hardcore gamers.

Well it is about time PoE forums had its own topic about this upcoming game (it should come out by end of July) that got me excited as soon as I found out about it 3 months ago. It is done by a small indie developer from Croatia.

If I had to describe this game in few words, I would say this is Morrowind meets Diablo + its own unique elements.

What are main features of this upcoming game:

- Open, large and rich fantasy game world: meaning a sandbox with no loading screens and no level scaling (like Morrowind)

- Free character development: meaning no classes but you get access to both martial and magic skills and decide on your own how to level your character and find good combinations

- Powerful spell creation system gives unlimited possibilities and easy use, if you have magic runes. Just drag them to the slots in the spell panel. Name them, give a representing icon and level (faith consumption). Click create and your magic icon will appear in the inventory. Then drag a spell into one of the slots.

- Unlocking System with Runes: using specific runes players can interactively unlock and activate locked chests or crates and other mechanisms in the game. You will find and collect these runes as you adventure. This is not just another minigame that is awesome at first but becomes a chore later. With limited number of runes at any time, you will need to choose where to open first.

- Adaptable creature AI: depending whether it is day or night, creatures spawn and act differently. Weather conditions also influence a monster's behavior

A new trailer just came out yesterday (NOTE: Unfortunately this video was made inhouse on a 4 year old computer so it does not showcase what this engine can really do. They said future trailers will be done better):

If not for that stiff action, it would be really great game with all those features above.
Judging by the trailer, the combat will be major disappointment - hotkey MMO-style, with targeting and everything. If it's not an MMO, that combat has no place in a game. The only way it is acceptable in MMOs is community, and tolerance for technical issues.

They also need to develop the game on a PC that can run it, it probably will look better on maximum settings, but there's no guarantee for that. We'll see, it really comes down to price of the thing, because it is going up against Skyrim. And Skyrim is a goddamn boss when it comes to sandbox RPG...
Games were better when devs didn't listen to player feedback.
Skyrim combat is one of the worst I played. Or maybe I just don't like FPS combat in a RPG.

BTW that kind of combat was seen in many successful games like NWN1 and 2, not only MMOs.

cool!
I Edited first post and added info about kickstarter for this game. Unfortunately this indie team ran out of money at end of their race and now needs our help to do that last 10m in their 100m race.

Update #1 is out. Nice info about how combat will work. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/522716131/legends-of-dawn/posts/373101

Update #2 http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/522716131/legends-of-dawn/posts/374732

No DRM. No level scaling for creatures. Multiple AI behaviors based on moral of creature and time of day. More content for people that like to play on harder difficulties. Sounds awesome to me.
I am sure going to try my 1st game on Hard.

Game that rewards people that like to challenge themselves by giving you more content that you cannot access on normal or easy :)

Update #5 is up on the page http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/522716131/legends-of-dawn/posts/380351

They go into more detail about crafting and promise more gameplay video next week as well as new stretch goal at a more reachable level.

SHE is a game developer?I think i've fallen in love. <3

The game looks good.I hope they improve the combat system and the textures though.Still,it's amazing what little independent developer studios can do.
