Question on reaching resistance cap

Hi :)

I'm a new player so I'm garbage but but I'm still trying to learn and have fun. I'm trying to get my resistances to near cap so I can farm T3+ maps (just saving them in stash for now) but I'm a little unsure how most people do this. Do they spam T1 / T2 maps until they get lucky drops on rings/amulets? Do they delve specifically for them? Some other method? Do they trade?

Thanks!

trade is easiest unless you're SSF. you can fix your res issues with just a few chaos

Is there a certain type of unique people look for? Again I know basically nothing and there's so many items in this game I'm not sure what I'm looking aside from something with lots of numbers

your profile is hidden so i dont know what build you're playing and what uniques you need.
generically speaking just look for rares with double res and life

Ah, fixed. But I'll check the guide I'm following and see how expensive some of the rings/amulets are. Thanks man!

yeah your gear is terrible. how did you reach lvl 83 with that? have a look at the guide it should tell you the gear you need.
a quill rain is a cheap bow and can be used until late end game. buy that for sure

ps, throw in toxic rain in your bow its better for clearing than caustic arrow,

I strongly recommend you find a guild. There are plenty of groups who are happy to help out new players:
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-forum/guild-recruitment-seeking-players

They can not only provide detailed advice, but also are usually all too happy to contribute gear. Just read the guild descriptions, and make sure you're not looking at an all-pro guild or something.

Good luck! You'll catch on. =^[.]^=

Rares would be better, but if you just want a simple solution with uniques then the ones to look for would be Goldrim (helm) and/or a String of Servitude (belt) with all resists (Servitude comes in several versions - the one you want is the resists one). Aurumvorax (sword) also has loads of resists, but it's a shitty weapon so you'll be losing a lot of damage. Here's a search for them -

Goldrim - https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Scourge/3dDyZ7gU5

String - https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Scourge/vKZ2yJDCE

Mind you these things are mostly used for leveling and most players would've already graduated to better rare gear by level 83. That's why I advise not spending much on them - if you can't find a cheap one, just look for rares. You can also craft a resist onto your gear if it has an open suffix.

If you're still confused or struggling to make ends meet, just hit me up in-game. Our guild is friendly to new players and has free starter gear available.

Thanks brother, I'll probably hit you up at some point in the future. All of my gear has resistances crafted into it (assuming it had the open suffixes) so I was able to do that already. I'll look into those uniques you linked as well.

Luckily enough I ran some T3s this morning and was able to get my resists to around 60% (35ish for chaos) so it's a slight improvement. I think my passive tree is doing most of the heavy lifting for me with evade chance and 90% spell suppression.
