Is the BETA released?

After some extensive Google searching I've stumbled across Path of Exile... not only is it something I've dreamed would exist for a long time now but it's local! I'm Australian and it's great to see a game so good is being produced by the little guys!

Is there a closed beta or something released? If so how do I gain access? Any idea when it may be available to play?

Release schedule

We’ve been developing Path of Exile since late 2006. It’s still heavily in development and is not yet available for the general public to play. We anticipate starting our public beta testing (eventually culminating in an open beta and then release) in early 2011.

There is a long roadmap of free expansions planned, and we anticipate releasing both feature and content upgrades periodically for many years.

New people really need to read the FAQ or any of the dozen other posts that ask this same question.

I looked around a little and read that the game was still in development but then saw posts mentioning it is available only to certain users which are personally selected.

Because of that I didn't know exactly what the go was and just wanted to be sure. Sorry for making the thread when I probably could of posted in another one just as easily.

You don't need to apologize, you came to the forum boards of the game that you had a question about... and asked it. People need to relax. If the response is going to be "you could have google'd it, you could have searched the forums for an answer" then, their isn't much of a point to having a forum at all. Unless it's just a place for idle speculation that cannot be confirmed or denied...

I wonder if since the game is being developed by New Zealanders it might mean that us Aussies will get better pings to their server?

That would be a nice change of pace.

It would be nice to get good pings on a game for once, being here in NZ, but sadly it doesn't look like there will be a server based here. Just America and Europe I belive

depends where they find good price for servers, but yeah if You will be close to server You will have better ping, in 1 mmo with server in LA my friend had 9ms :twisted:

That's what I thought. Cheaper and faster servers if hosted overseas plus I'm sure most of their playerbase will be US/EUR so they'd have to.

If they could host a server in NZ/AUS though just for us that would be pretty awesome.

the problem is the volume of these sort of posts will continue to rise and the forums will become even more of a mess, i have not been here long but found it very easy to find all the info i needed

but for sure replies to such threads should not be mean, these sort of threads would get locked or deleted, but then the forums here should be better than they are in the 1st place ;-)

as for the question

even if the beta was released what makes you think the people who are in the beta would be able to tell you that the beta has started? ;-)
