New System 'Harvest Magic'

So you want enchanting? Not exactly an original idea, but potentially a good one.
Many games have done this type of idea. Aion is the main one that comes to mind. Items could be broken down into enchantment stones. Rarer items would be broken down into very high lvl enchantment stones. The higher the enchantment stone the higher chance of success in enchantment. The best geared players in Aion had the best gear enchanted to +15. Enchantment stones added dmg to weapons and armor to armor.
I would be ok with this idea if, and I mean if, there was a chance of failing. Give the items less of a chance to actually harvest, that way there is some kind of rarity or actual value to them. Also, with the amount of drops that actually drop in this game it would make sense to have some kind of failure rate.

I Really really really really like that addition to the idea

lol.. Personally I dislike this idea.. I am more about the finding loot :/

Although.. if it was only once per item.. and more than just 15 magic items since that doesnt seem like thats hard to get at all (havent played so not sure yet). I am thinking like 50-100 dusts minimum..

I agree, the numbers I used were to explain the concept and werent meant to be stone

When breaking the items down maybe they could have a chance at becoming one of the currency items that are already in the game. The better the quality of item, the better the odds that it will break down into higher end currency items

edit: it should also have a chance to destroy the item completely

That sounds like it would be really really fun. Vendor the white crap, break down the magic items, and save the best of the best for trading. everything would have a place and it would give you a little something to do.

please read up on the game before you talk about it

i suggest the dev diary
I think it gives people a reason to pick up magic items and fill their inventories more. Pretty sure the devs removed actual gold from the equation to keep the focus off grabbing every single item you find in battle and pawning it for scraps back at the town every 5 minutes. All magic items are tradeable anyway, but I don't think breaking down crappier items to change your own gear is bad thing, it just seems to easy to accomplish and would need differently scaling AI because you would quickly grow overpowered after a short while of picking up magic items and synthesizing them to increase your equipment.

Personally, I'd like the item drop rate to be decreased and have item rarity % chance to increase to cut down on hoarding, all these players who just grab every single item they see and then complain because their inventory is full after two minutes of dungeon diving are really annoying. Although I also think that if an enemy is carrying a weapon it should be dropped.

I was thinking the same thing about becoming overpowered easily, which is why I suggested breaking them down to get the currency items that are already in the game.
