I Challenge Chris Wilson To Actually Play His Own Game!
I believe Chris Wilson's role as CEO of GGG, along with any social/family life he may have, limits his play time that would put him on par with a significant portion of the player base. Therefore, I challenge Chris Wilson to actually play the next league (at least 6 weeks) as much as he can while balancing his work and social/family life. What will be Chris Wilson's experience be against often repeated design goals of being challenging, rewarding, and fun? What will Chris Wilson be able to achieve? Will he even see a Maven fight? Will he be able to create a build, given the limited time he has available, capable of achieving anything of substance?
I think it is time Chris Wilson gets out of receive mode, where he relies too heavily on feedback, either internally, from streamers, or the community as a whole. Play the game Chris Wilson. Ask yourself, "Was that fun? Is that the gaming experience you want your player base to have?" I think you will be disappointed in your experience, but I could be wrong. Take the challenge and make me eat my words. Tell me you loved it, found it appropriately challenging and rewarding, and that perhaps POE isn't for me. I will even reply to your post and acknowledge I was wrong and take the community flogging for making such a challenge. Last bumped on Aug 16, 2021, 10:47:38 PM

He does play he just isn't a "good" player... he is like the can clear campaign get stuck in white/yellows and struggles to understand mechanics which is why he hires people to create them. He main role in the company is making all the teams communicate. Not to force people to make his vision.

I'll respond to you with the same response I give to many others making absurd claims.

Pretty sure Chris is a big enough boy to not play the "I challenge you" game.

Be careful what you ask for, lol.
Chris does play the game. And, after playing the game for years, his current favorite idea to make the game better is to make it harder, slower, and to reduce the rewards to a painful level, in the form of an additional "hard mode". I don't think your "challenge" would give the results you're expecting. - here's my sig

Chris is already too busy creating the next MTX set so he can milk more the rich whales. As long there are ppl that still paying for MTX don't expect this game to be any good.

" You know that Chris is a programmer and not a 3D artist, right? You DO know the difference, right? You DO know that certain teams are working on MTXs, while other teams are working on other parts of the game, right? Right? Right! I think you do, but just have this endless urge of negativity. Or maybe you don't know, and you're just [Removed by Me]. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Id say let him skip campaign and start with lvl 89 character and some red maps in stash. Then he can choose some "packfresh" random generated t6 up to t3 tier rolled items (non influenced as this would count as deterministic crafting). Choose ascendancy and build and try to give it a shot. Mode of his choice.
I would be curious to see or hear about the impressions. |

" If there is no one paying for mtx. Don't expect there to even be a game for you to play. " Chris is no longer a programmer in the context of GGG. He is a senior decision maker - the ultimate one where the buck stops. So there is some sense in what the guy is saying even if it isn't entirely accurate - there is definitely the perception that Chris is putting more resources in generating more mtx than trying to improve aspects of the game that has been complained about for years. It will convert your forum titles into decorative square badges that use the space next to your forum posts more economically so that you can show off an unlimited number of them at any one time. - GGG, 2018 (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3573673) Last edited by Jerle#2906 on Aug 16, 2021, 11:13:12 AM

The company GGG still belongs to Chris. PoE is no longer his game though. Maybe that has done something internally to him, that he now sees it all different.
Baeclast podcast #75 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88N4s2qxRIM&t=4237s&ab_channel=TarkeCat At 1 hour and 26 minutes Chris explains the relationship between GGG and Tencent. I quote straight from Chris Wilson. "It's essentially still my company as far as the authority of running it goes. And while I'm trying to be a good custodian of the game that they... (pausechamp) own. They let me do that." |
