Hrimburn: "Your cold damage can ignite" doesnt work
I am using elemental hit.
I have combat focus (elemental hit cannot choose fire, 50% less fire damage), but my cold damage cannot ignite foes even without combat focus. Last bumped on May 22, 2021, 1:05:17 PM

If Elemental Hit chooses a non-Fire element, it cannot deal fire damage, which means the base damage of any ignite that might otherwise occur is 0 (due to having a 100% less multiplier).
As such, non-Fire Elemental Hit cannot ignite. |

is it because of elemental hit's "deals no damage of other damage types"?
Even for ignite applied by cold? |

" What.... why? This has to be a bug, right? |

" Why do you say that? Ignites deal fire damage. If you can't deal fire damage, your ignites would deal no damage. |

" reference this thread with ele hit and psn(which can be done with other things), same logic applied here. Just change "poison" to "ignite" and "chaos" to "fire" https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3118470 " |

Yeah, so all I gather from this is that it's a bug.
"Cold damage can ignite" logically means you don't have to deal fire damage, to ignite. The ignite is >after> the fact. This is just silly backwards, excused with it being "intentional" tbh |

Cod damage can ignite allows your cold damage to be used towards calculating your base ignite damage. However, ignites are still fire damage, and it is therefore affected by your modifiers to fire damage (as well as your modifiers to cold damage, in the case of cold damage that can ignite) and as such, if you have 100% less fire damage, the end result is no ignite.
