Are melee really that bad off?

My leap slam build is having a great time on properly rolled (no phys reflect!) 66 and 67 maps. My only decent piece of gear is a Marohi so far. I expect that when I 6L my Marohi and get a Kaom's and can run auras, I'll be able to go wild in higher level maps.

I do play responsibly and swap out leap for ground slam when a map calls for it; death isn't worth it.

i have a rare grove bow level req 35 with 2 low elemental rolls and some attackspeed, 5 slots of magic find gear and life on 2 out of all slots.

my fight against vaal in the vulnerability maze map was quite easy as i was able to shoot him offscreen.

also: what is properly rolled? you mean like any map whatsoever right?

hm. maybe i overdid it :/.

sometimes my lightning arrow marauder feels like cheating.
it's not only easier but i can let my ice shot totem kill stuff that i couldnt even dare to face with my melee chars.

my ele-cleave-cyclone-sux-duelist can do 66-68 maps though, was even able to fight through lightning thorns. that map only took me like an hour.
I recently made an insane melee build and while playing i was like "how do people think melee is UP?!" then i ran into a large pack of lightning thorn mobs and 2 shot my self.


Obviously lesson learned but lightning thorns really shuts down melee. Physical reflect is not even as deadly.

As 84 mara I can tell u one thing... it takes a real man to play melee in PoE...u HAVE to enjoy melee to suffer all the downsides... most local swaggots play rangers\witches not because they like to play ranged, no, it's because "OWMAGAD!!!DAT SHIT IS OP!!!!", if melee were OP they would play melee, it's just the swaggot mentality.

Here is my gear:




Not top tier items but good enough. I can faceroll any map up to 74 with occasional ass whooping by some crazy mob pack. But, higher maps scale absolutely fucking out of this world bad. I get hit for 2-3k per hit in 75+ maps quite often.

Melee dmg is quite good actually. Survivability is what blows, no, BLOWS. Things like Roas or Blackguard elites can 3-4 shot u(and that's like 1-2 seconds of time) if ur not careful, throu 6k hp and ~40k armor. Devs proly were tripping balls on math when they were designing melee.

Died 6 times on my marauder. All due to dsync, cause apparently while ur standing in one room ur actually right in the middle of the next room getting ur ass handed to u by everyone and their mother.

Think twice before going melee. As of now this game is for dedicated melee players only, if ur not mentaly strong enough U WILL rerol into archer\mage.

Actually thinking of making an honest review of the game with ALL it's flaws and putting it on Ytube so ppl can know whats whats around here.

Are they at least aware of the fact that melees have serious issues? Please tell me they arent like Blizzard and D3 where they just leave classes stupid under powered for half a year and then throw out some half ass fixes that still dont resolve anything. Has GGG been good so far about rolling out changes if they are obviously needed?

Also if Im going to try and get a melee to high level is it better to go with something like a GS Mara or maybe a dual wield duelist? Or does it matter at all since you can make any build work with any class?

exactly this so far. we'll see in a month, in this game melees aren't that easy to fix, solution must be elegant since all share same skill tree.

Cant they just throw in an aura for ranged mobs and then decrease mob damage when within a certain range of the character? That sounds like something easy to do.

Yes people can acquire it through trading, but that is exactly everything that is wrong with the game right now (same problems as D3). With truly average items melee has a hard enough time in 66-70 maps as it is.

Calling +100hp, tri res, 1500 ar chest "good enough" sounds really silly.

I lost my respect for players who only play LA all the time and switch IMMEDIATELY to RoA as they recognize its even more imba. Suche people deserve my pity.

I want to add, i play a Cleaver on HC, and I had so many close calls. So many, but im still alive. But only cuz its the pure skill
