[3.13] Occultist Hexblast Blackflame Chaos Ignite | All content viable | 27 mil Shaper Ignite
Since Hexblast was so bad the last league I didn't bother trying it, but they buffed it. So I decided to give it a shot this league with the new unique.
Path of Building: Community fork
Against shaper and bosses, it does reasonable ignite damage, drop wither, cast curse, cast Hexblast, run away.
Mapping is easier, just right click on a group of mobs, and they all blow up.
All content deathless cleared:
Sirus A9 ✔
Uber ELder ✔
Uncharted Realm ✔
With Doomsday, we get guaranteed 40 stacks of Doom to proc with Hexblast.
The Blackflame unique has 2 great upsides:
The Wither we apply on the enemies does not disappear. So we can safely assume 15 Wither stack on a boss.
Our damage dealt to an enemy is done in Chaos, which means we get to ignore fire resist completely. However, we still scale fire dot.
Despair: This is our main curse, we use this for getting Doom and main damage curse. Self cast this.
Temporal Chains: We get this from Asenath's Gentle Touch, Temporal Chains is great because it's just more total damage dealt. It doesn't reduce our DPS, but it increases the time the ignite will last on an enemy.
Vulnerability: We get this from the other ring slot. You don't need this, pretty unnecessary, but it ups our dps a bit as it makes our ignite deal damage faster. Get it if you don't need another suffix on ring.
Flammability: This is bad, we don't do fire damage to an enemy, the only reason we would take this, would be for the ignite chance, but that means you need to either self cast this or use Blasphemy. Both sucks.
Doesn't really matter here, get the highest ES you can get, the enchant dones't mean much, aoe is nice but we don't need it as we use Windshriek.
Hunter influence for -Chaos resist, nice dmg boost.
Redeemer influence for burning dmg + ignite chance, unnecessary cuz we run combustion
Just get a fat ES chest. Don't worry about spell crit, I got it just because I had it, it does nothing, helps proc EO a bit better but not necessary at all.
Asenath's Gentle Touch is BIS here, it gives Temporal Chains, blind, and helps clear. The corpse that it leaves over, can still proliferate ignite, so blight encounters get easy.
If you can't afford Asenath's Gentle Touch
Get a fire dot multi with ES.
All elemental resist, elemental damage, additional curse, and huge AoE for our despair and Hexblast.
ES and resist, that's it.
These were really cheap, but you can use Ashcallers for ignite chance if you don't wanna run combustion in Hexblast link.
So build got a bit of popularity these wands are no longer 10c. And mostly since these are mods that people don't even bother pick up. You guys should look for a Staff instead. More dmg and block chance.
Stats to look for:
Chaos Spell Skill Gem +3
Fire damage over time multi
Inc Fire damage
Stat you don't want:
Spell damage, does nothing essentially
Chaos damage over time, does nothing, we don't scale chaos damage, enemy is receiving chaos damage but we are still scaling fire.
You could try and craft a staff, though it gets a bit expensive.
Blackflame is core item. The other ring is just vulnerability and ES + fill resist.
These are super easy to craft this league with Harvest.
Alt spam until you hit +1 int. Block suffix, aug chaos, or non-chaos to chaos gamble. If you don't block suffix and hit chaos resist, just rem chaos/add chaos.
We anoint Corruption because wither effect.
Vile Reinvigoration is amazing, good recovery, 6% ES, 24% DoT.
Burning Bright is the most damage node.
Circling Oblivion cheap alternative of Burning Bright.
Blowback is more DPS.
Brush with Death is not bad either.
Jewels are pretty self-explanatory, get ES, get fire dmg, get DoT, fire DoT Multi. Watcher's eye for faster ignite = more DPS.
Divergent Hexblast - Combustion Support - Ignite Proliferation - Awakened Unbound Ailments Support - Awakened Burning Damage Support - Awakened Deadly Ailments Support
If you self cast flammability or use ashcallers, then you don't need Combustion support for ignite chance, swap for Swift Affliction.
Despair - Increased Critical Strikes Support - Faster Casting Support - Impending Doom Support
We put in Inc Crit to proc Elemental Overload with Impending Doom. Pretty unnecessary but we have the open slots.
Wither - Spell Totel Support - Multiple Totems Support - Faster Casting Support
Malevolence - Discipline - Enlighten[lv3]
If you wanna go the life version of this build, use skitterbot or anger instead of discipline.
Cast When Damage Taken Support[lv1] - Immortal Call[lv3] - Increase Duration - Phase Run
We lack attributes in this build, so all of my are lv 1s. Phase run not linked because I don't have enough Dex, but if your phase run is lv 4+, then it could be linked to the Inc Duration and CWDT wouldn't affect it because it's lv1.
This link is open to whatever you want. I wanted a bit more survivability.
Flame Dash - Faster Casting Support - Portal
This is theory crafting: I don't play the build anymore but since the stat we want on our weapon are not meta, no one picks them up. So here's a guide on how to craft your own.
Pick a ilvl 79 base:
Battery Staff, just socket your main gems in your Armour, you cannot reserve energy shield. So free ES
Any block staff, primitive has the lowest str requirement
ilvl 79 will lock out the attack chaos mod, this is important, and some ele as chaos mods.
You lose the possibility of T1 Fire damage, but the weight of that is a joke so don't worry about it.
Best way to do it is just to buy +3 chaos gem and split beast and isolate it
Two ways of getting +3 chaos gem if you can't buy it. Spam alt until you hit it, or harvest craft for it.
Harvest craft +3 chaos gem.
Either spam Abberant Fossil or Alts. Abberant are 0.5c each.
Spam until you hit any chaos resist
avg 1/7 tries.
Something like this:
We use 3 non-chaos to chaos harvest craft here. Super cheap, 30c avg on TFT.
On the third harvest, you have a 33% chance, to hit +3 chaos gem. 66% chance to hit +2 chaos gem.
If you don't hit +3 Chaos gem, harvest craft rem caster, 30-50c avg on tft, craft any random mod from bench, try again.
Here you have 2 choices, Fracture 3 prefix for +3 chaos gem isolation, or split beast for imprints.
Harvest Craft remove element, for our case we remove lightning here.
Split beast, now you have a magic item with +3 chaos gem isolated for imprint.
Regal then annul the other mod.
Multimod, cannot roll attack mod, cannot roll caster mod.
Harvest aug fire
Rem fire/add fire until you are happy with something, high fire damage or high fire damage over time multi.
Remove crafted mods and craft some random prefix like phy and use rem/add phy, anything you want here. I chose R/A phy because they're cheap.
Now that you have 3 prefix locked and 1 of them is easily removable. Craft fire resist, rem fire/add fire until you hit T1 inc fire damage, 1/13, t2 is 1/6. Odds are not that bad.
Craft fire resist again and aug fire. 60% chance to hit t2 or t1 Burning damage.
Rem attack, get rid of the phy prefix, craft fire damage from bench, and you're all good.
You can finish it off by slamming a hunter orb if you want, 1/4 to hit the 4 good mods.

This looks really interesting! I'm doing something similar myself and I was considering using Blackflame. Do you have any videos of this build for showcase? I would love to see it.
Also how are your defensives? Pob can be misleading here. Do you die a lot in maps / bosses or are you a tank? Can you tank a big hit or do you rely on dodging out of the way?
My main concern, when I was considering using Blackflame compared to standard fire damage, was that there is no curse to reduce chaos res. Without Blackfalme you can use Elemental weakness and Flammability. With Blackflame you get withered stacks bonus and -20 chaos res from ascendency. Do you think it is worth it? Have you tried some kind of version of your build without the Blackflame?

Honestly, defenses aren’t great, we basically only rely on es pool and cwdt lv1 immortal call.
General idea is to not get hit since the build is ranged and long dot damage.
I recorded a deathless Maven video awhile ago to prepare for the thread, but my dumbass deleted the video to clear space. Now I’ve transitioned out of the build as I needed something to farm currency quick.
So unfortunately no videos.
Most mobs have low chaos resist, Uber atziri has 25% chaos reist, a8 sirus has 30%. So the -20% chaos resist close to reduce it to 0, then if you can get -9% chaos on helmet, we don’t care about their resist anymore. With fire version, you need elemental equilibrium and lose withers, I think it’s lower damage, but then again, if you don’t use blackflame you would probably go trickster instead.
With elemental I think I would try an archmage version, I would assume it’s less damage though because it’s not fire based.
There’s a hexblast trickster ignite version that someone else posted that doesn’t use blackflame.
But with blackflame, there’s a secret technique, when you ignite Maven with the build, shell have a huge purple square on her, so you know how long your ignite will last, all you have to do is focus on dodging her mechanics

Remember the 40 Doom stacks in your PoB, we get guaranteed 40 stacks, so make sure you have it on because it's most of our damage.
Post here or ask me in game if you have any questions, happy to help.

trying this, leveling
why didnt you go LL + chayula to be max chaos capped easily and stun immune?

Because Pain Attunement does basically nothing for us, you lose a lot of ES, and you don't get +2 gem level from amulet

doing it as life based with divine flesh
currently 79 and doing good with :
works pretty well
only concern is kaoms: its a crazy life provider, but the 6 missing slots are hard to forget :x

thanks for posting this build, it's a lot of fun even without a ton of currency to invest I've spent maybe 4 exalted and mostly that was buying cluster jewels and Asenath's Gentle Touch. So my gear is low-end to middling at best with around 5000 Es and doing about half the total damage you can pull off with much nice gear but it's still enough to have fun playing. This is only my second league so I'm extremely far from being an expert in anything.

You could try going life based with divine flesh like ouis, together with Occultist chaos resist and Blackflame chaos resist, its very easy to cap chaos resist, making divine flesh a very lucrative damage reduction.
I think 5000 es might be a bit squishy after t14s
We all start somewhere right, I remember when I first started Poe in breach I had no idea what I was doing, followed a fire storm build that was doing a solid 4digit dps

The dmg seems pretty nice for hexblast, how it felt vs endgame bosses?
And mapping was smooth with Asenaths? Did everything with my raider and wanted to try something different :)
