Biggest noob traps in PoE?

As an actual noob, I feel I can weigh in here...

1. Failing to use a loot filter
2. Failing to understand all vendor recipes, especially quality gems, quality flasks, and chaos recipes.
3. Overuse of uniques
4. Not understanding that 99% of build guides are B.S. because of cost of gear
5. Not understanding how the !@#$%^&* Atlas works (requires PhD in Atlas Theory from an Ivy League university)
6. Never using your flasks except in "OH CRAP" moments.
7. Not understanding how crafting works (need separate PhD for that)
8. Not understanding the difference between normal map bosses and "end game bosses" and how utterly ridiculous end game boss mechanics are.
9. How grindy the game gets post level 85ish (regardless that the first G in GGG stands for "Grinding"...)
10. Not realizing that GGG designed end game to use a RNG to sometimes just decide to 1 shot you dead, no matter your build, and make you lose 10 maps worth of EXP because of their crappy EXP progression at high level (Ok, that's not a noob trap, thats a complaint, but we all know you have to have 10 things in a list...)

You never seen my discharge build. Does everything 100% uniques. 85% all res. 90% phys etc etc etc.

Is there a guide to that? Curious about an all unique build, the randomness of rares is fucking annoying.

if your build needs that many uniques its actually harder to make it, in general best newbie builds require just rares with life + resistance + 5 link. Theres a few builds every league that will function with blue gear with 1 life roll + resistance and 5 link, all the way to red maps. One of them in current patch being volatile dead.

Cyclone.

How on earth is that a noob trap?

The skill feels great to use, is defensively good as far as melee goes, and isn't expensive to get going and even to get it good enough to complete endgame. If anything, it's very noob-friendly actually.

I would say a noob-trap is this post, in all fairness.
I'd have to add socket links to the mix. While it's not a trap per se, it's more along the lines of a newbie might not realize that gems need to be linked to each other and not just in the same gear item that has multiple sockets so they equip these gems not knowing they aren't getting the desired result.

Melee is hardest
Bow (non dot) is next
Spell (non dot) is next
Dot builds are next (and fire and forget spells like brands and totems)
Easiest is Minions.

What do you mean "forget spells like brands and totems"? Where do they belong?
