Alistair's Aegis Aurora (AAA) Build. Dual Spork. HC. (new video)

It took me a few characters to figure this build out. It all stems from my love for the Aegis Aurora. With a big influence from St Elmos fire build, and Aegis Aurora Marauder tank. (both RIP).

Tested it with maps at 75. It runs maps extremely well, however I felt rushing Iron reflexes took too much from dps. So now I have a more refined end game build. Instead of making a skillgrimage. I feel now it is very efficient.

Aegis Aurora basically restores 4% of your maximum armor as energy shield everytime you block an attack or spell. With 3000k armor thats 120 per block. With 5000 Armor thats 200 per block.

In its foundation it is simply an extremely defensive dual totem, fire trap build. There is a trick however. With your dual totem procing elemental equilibrium. Your fire traps will do much more damage. Along with Shock stack with your lightning totem, the dps is at a very decent pace. With zombies to tank the front your traps and totems should clear everything.

Pros
1. Max Resist.
2. High physical resist.
3. High block chance/spell block
4. High Health and shield.
5. Pretty Safe build.
6. Zombies for tanking
7. Unique/interesting with a fun way to rebuild shield.
8. Not effected by reflect.
9. Kamikaze zombies
Cons
1. Slow build up.
2. Aegis Aurora is fairly rare.
3. Chaos damage is a problem until end game gear.
4. Must acquire great stat items early on.
5. Weak Mana pool.

Totem Gem

Spoiler
To spark or not to spark.
I myself prefer spark totem. Although I do keep an arc on me to switch out if I ever wanted too.

In order of priority of support gem:
Spell Totem+ Fork+ Faster Casting+ Elemental Proliferation+ Lightning Penetration+ Iron Will

Fire Trap
Spoiler
The importance here is to have a dagger with +2fire gem. With the help of that +2 your fire gems will hit like a truck. I am running bood magic on 2 of my gems because mana cost are tight.

In order of priority of support gem:
Fire Penetration+ iron will+ Blood magic

Curse Gem
Spoiler
Since I am using spark I am losing a lot of shock chance that Arc gives. This is where Conductivity comes into play. 10% more shock chance goes a long way. It is possible to spec dual curses. To add elemental weakness or temporal chains. I just love the though of a 20% temp chains.

In order of priority of support gem:
Reduced mana+Bloodmagic

Aura
Spoiler

Run Clarity Eventually, at level 16 with a 100% mana regeneration, that should be enough mana to free cast totems at a reasonable speed.

Determination is a must to increase armor.

Discipline is nice, but it does bring mana pool problems.

Tempest shield. 4% more block is very nice.

In order of priority of support gem:
Reduced mana.

Minion Gem
Spoiler
I prefer raise zombie. However I really want to try a spell totem and summon skeleton kamikaze build.

In order of priority of support gem:
Minion Life+Minion speed+ Minion Damage

I felt like the previous end game build was too much of a skillgrimage. I have now refined it, and feel it is much more tanky. We are gaining about 10% more block. For a massive 69% block chance. With much more health, tho we do lose a bit of armor. But we gain a lot of fire trap dps.
This is ambitious. Its ahead of its time... but one day when everyone gets that shield its gonna be a staple

Would it not be worth it to pick up Elemental Adaption seeing as you can pick it up whenever you want to? Other than that I have to say it's an interesting build, was considering making a build around this shield myself, but do not have currency free for it at the moment.

I added that. I forgot to add that point, on the build. I do have it on my tree. THat point is a staple.
Changed my gear around so that I run clarity and determination all the time. I dont need any mana pots anymore. So now I run 3 granite flask.
Testing some docks run with my new gear. just me tanking some mobs. also got fire trap up to 3.4k dps

Show map gameplay, not docks. The reason why the videos are deceptive is the fire dogs do a lot of small tiny hits that add up a lot. This makes it almost impossible for them to hurt you for your build. Not trying hate on your build but blocking hits that cast every 0.16 of a second or so and blocking 68% of them doesn't really show the potential against other mobs which hit a lot but have bigger hits. Just would like to see how it rakes against them.

Ill record some maps tonight. I understand your concern, I just wanted to post some videos on the basic concept. Playing maps is no different in that it runs pretty much as a dual totem/trap build. So most of the time I do not actually take damage, however when I do a lot of it is mitigated by blocking. What this build is extremely effective on is those fast hitting mobs, things like tittybitches, archers, spellcasters. This build is also effective against large mobs of creatures. If i am in trouble i usually pop a granite and each block will regenerate about 1000 shield.
