GGPK Defragmenter

Thanks for this great tool... went from 6.5 GB to 3.7 GB.

I'm not really computer savvy at all...if I choose to uninstall Path of Exile completely and then re-download/install it, will I achieve the same result?

I didn't want to do all that either so I went in the file and just deleted the GGPK file and launched the game and let it re-d/l. it went then from 6 to 3 like everyone else has said.then I cleared my shader catch like someone else suggested.my husbands pc is way better than mine and he saw a nice difference in performance .

thx for this, just took 3GB off my client,

up and thanks, gone from 7GB to 3.8GB.
deleted the following directories: redist, shadercache, minimap
deleted also client.txt which had like 200MB

Yup, mine got 3GB smaller as well.
There were some "oddly sized small chunks left over" Jonathan, 3GB of them! :P

Hi. I'm new here. I have a question. Isn't NTFS compression useful in this specific case?

I didn't try the tool, but I did this:

Right click Path of Exile folder
Click Advanced
Check Compress Content to save disk space
Click OK

Is there a difference?

NTFS compression degrades performance, since the GGPK file is already partially compressed.

What the tool does is truncate nodes freed in the chain, since the data is stored as some sort of tree/list structure on disk. Compression won't detect that since it's a non-standard format.

The file Content.ggpk here looks like this:

Size - 3,82 GB (4.107.352.468 bytes) (game installed on 15-09-2013)
Size on disc - 3,00 GB (3.231.117.312 bytes) (NTFS Compress)

I was curious how much 7-zip could compress this same file too:
1,90 GB (2.049.434.601 bytes)

It seems possible to improve the download size for this game. What's the total size of this game right now with a fresh install?
