Quitting Smoking with PoE.
I've been cutting my cigarette consumption down by more than half, almost without effort, simply because I find this game more engaging than getting my nic on.
Anyway, thought it would be nice to start a little support group for others who might want to cut back as well, or quit altogether. Non-smokers welcome, of course. :) |

Smoking is gross.
Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.

good luck brother, id suggest going to the gym regularly to cut that stress out of not smoking.
Phase 1: Make D3
Phase 2: ? Phase 3: Profit |

Thanks. That's actually been another trigger - been hitting the cardio pretty hard, and getting a lungfull of hydrogen cyanide after a good heart workout just doesn't feel right.

I dropped cigs a couple years back overnight from a pack a day to nothing. Also played quite a bit of videogames during that time, probably helped a bit.
Started hitting the gym after that too so I feel your lung's pain, heh. I haven't gone back to cigs, but about a year after I had quit and got my lungs straightened out through exercise I picked up pipe smoking. It tastes better, is less offensive to other people, and significantly less of a health risk since you do not inhale the smoke. And it's a relatively cheap habit to pick up. Not a solution if smoking is all about the nicotine for you, but for me after a year without smoke I very much missed the taste of fine tobacco. |

I'm down from a pack and a half every day to about ~5 cigs every day, but the reduction has just improved the sensation i get from every cig now.
I don't think that i'm ever going to quit completely. The dumb is strong in this one

I quit two weeks ago =]
Woke up on a Monday and heard a neighbor coughing his lungs out and thought about how I didn't want to be him. Haven't had a smoke again. You can do it! Good luck to you guys. From my experience it came down to a much stronger psychological addiction than physical, so it was a matter of breaking my associations with everyday tasks from smoking. Relearning how to eat without a cig after a meal or taking a walk without smoking, etc.
It is mostly a question of honestly wanting to stop the habit, rather than half-assing it because you think that you should. Also, I didn't have many supportive friends at the time, and most of them were jackasses making jokes like "was I getting the shakes yet". Don't let other people's insecurities or their judgements of you stop you from doing what you want to do. |

I wonder how many forum members who "can't afford" $10 for a Cash Shop package with Beta access are smokers? Regular drinkers of "fashionable" coffee?
Give up a bad habit for a little while, play PoE. Who knows, the quit might stick! =^[.]^= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/
