Nature Theme for Summoners

If there were cosmetic microtransactions to change zombies to wolves (they could feast on the corpses as their "summoning" animation) and change skeletons to badgers (or maybe dryads or plant-monsters), my response would be

I don't know the technical implications involving switching out the models... balancing the wolf model and the zombie model to act identically in gameplay, creating no dis/advantage whether or not you use the cosmetic effect might be tricky.. or it might be simple, I don't know.

But I want woodland creatures as my minions, not zombies or skeletons/statues.

I've kicked 10 dollars towards GGG so far.. I would go as far as 10x that number for these cosmetic effects.

I Would prefer some sort of demons. But +1 for more options.

I would prefer to make animals as new summons and not just skins. I think undeads should stay undeads or something similiar.
I think that with the petcount already pushing 30, adding another minion skill would be a bit redundant.. Unless you can come up with some earth-shattering way to get summoner's to choose one pet-type or another (locking out one skill simply because you're using another is not compelling), any minion gem you add to the game will be used by summoners... So, on top of 20-30 spectres, skeletons, and zombies, you want a summoner to have another few groups of minions?


Skin zombies and skeletons for whatever flavors you want would be a more feasible way to enhance minion variety.

Your other suggestion thread calls for a brand new, parallel minion system... While this idea is appealing, i feel as though something like that shouldn't be merely added to the existing skill forest.. A system with those kinds of implications, the skill forest should be designed taking that system into consideration... So, that might have been good if it were a core system, but a simple addition, methinks not.

A dark summoner shouldn't spawn animals. he should spawn demons and undeads. So I don't approve your suggestion at all.

And like I said in my thread:
If we would be frightened about every new skill/mechanic because of balancing issues, we should stop suggesting new skills and other mechanics as they all lead to some balancing work... And guess what? The suggesting area IS THERE to make new suggestions (like skills, new mechanics etc.).

Skeletons have their skin already. If at all, they should finally add new skins for skills who don't have a one yet.

Nowhere does it say that a summoner must be a dark summoner.. only because the only summons are undead doesn't mean they have to be.

I'm not afraid of new skills or systems.. I just think that a parallel minion system would be a huge mess from a QA perspective.. Would take up to years to implement due to balancing issues and the major reworking of the skill forest. And, frankly, it's just not as compelling as you'd like it to be. It would be a huge hurtle to make it compelling but not compulsory... to the point of its own detriment. It's just not feasible, plain and simple. Besides being a QA nightmare, there's just no motivation for the dev team to work on this... It's not a system that a heap of players are going to get behind (or did you not notice that you're the only one bumping your post?).

Cosmetic enhancements to the minion system currently in place would generate revenue and please a lot of people. Not just wolf-skin for zombies or dryad skin for skeletons but demon-theme, nature-theme, dragon-theme... ET CETERA!

If you have a minion theme suggestion, please add it!

(please don't try to derail my thread with baseless argument. Please don't try to hijack my thread with links to your own and rehashing of your own ideas.)
