Is it just me or do CI builds more or less REQUIRE "Cannot Be Stunned" and "Cannot Be Frozen"?

How bad is stun on a CI build? How long are you stunned for when you get hit? Isn't having 9k es compared to 5k life with using less nodes still better anyways...I mean if you are ranged and all

The stun formula doesn't calculate Energy Shield. So it's like hitting a 500 hp target. You'll stun every shot, regardless of them having 5k ES or 100k ES.

And that being said, if I had 100k ES, I would still die in these situations. You get framelocked because there's about 15 ranged mobs and 7 melee mobs all attacking you, and each one triggers a hit stun, block stun, or evade stun. You legitimately cannot move until you're dead.
with CI when u get hit the stun moddifier acts on the HP u would have if u did not have CI, so this will ususaly be very low hence u can get stun locked very easy. cannot be stunned is very handy for CI builds or a play style that avoids alot of damage in the first plase also a decent amount of ER on the side .. or a flask to bump it up can help break a stun lock

Just a sec let me grab a beer...@#*@ Ok how did I die this time

Learn the rules, it's the only way to exploit them.

This is my belt:

On top of that, I use:

So my armor is pretty much always really high. And if I REALLY need to, I can just pop my Portal gem and refresh stock for free.

But yeah. And on top of that, I currently have about 49% dodge and 34% block. I've also just recently put a Faster Attacks on my Whirling Blades. My survival is pretty good. My current issue is resists, really. That, and I get get frozen or shocked just by being nicked by the weakest of things. I actually died a few times by being chain frozen by a single solo caster unit because I got hit just one time, which let to multiple freeze hits over and over again...

This game just always feels like it punishes you for covering 1 base. Grab enough armor to be worth a damn, and you realize your evasion took a hit for it. Grab resists to go from 20% to 50%, and your health/ES takes a heavy hit for it... It's excruciatingly hard to get the well-rounded effect.

My current overall Energy Shield is exactly 1400 right now. And that's with a ton of skill nodes, and the most ES I can reasonably use from gear I've had any remote access to without losing too much for it. And really, I'm confident anyone else in my shoes woulda came out with lower. It's just that ES doesn't scale so well early game :/

anti frozen for anything that gets hit alot (melee). for rangeds imho 1-2 flasks of heat and careful play should mostly cover that.

the stunning is a huge factor indeed. chayula is mandatory or you WILL die to a unlucky chain of stuns.

ive been stunlocked 100-0 from 5k es by random lowmap white monsters, be it arcers, flickerstrikers, stonethrowers or really awesome those tentacled miscreations that fire a ton of projectiles really fast.

if there was some mechanic that just prevents those super stunlocks it would help alot.randomly losing control over your character for extended times just isnt much fun

All they need to do is calculate Energy Shield with health for the stun/elemental status chances/durations. Or, better yet, only calculate the higher of the two.
ive posted about this many times but no change yet...sort of discouraging, any melee energy shield user pretty much gets punished on hardcore for even trying, if u dont have 2/3 unique's in place to prevent all the status ailments u can pretty much put ure build in the bin.(was thinking of a CI melee shadow cuse clearly he was ment to do something like this with reaver etc...just aint gonna happen how ci functions now with ES)
