Is it just me or do CI builds more or less REQUIRE "Cannot Be Stunned" and "Cannot Be Frozen"?
The frozen bit may not be so much of a requirement only because cold damage isn't SO common, but...
Based off of how stun mechanics work, calculating only your health pool (even though it calculates what your health would be if you didn't have CI, you still don't gear for health stack) and ignoring your massive Energy Shield... Pretty much, literally every swing at you will put you into stun frames. And since those frames also occur even if you block or dodge, it almost makes blocking and dodging just as bad as taking the hit. I always found myself being framelocked from just a bunch of little things connecting on me, which all started from one thing. Because my health pool was really tiny, it just made everything stun me. Even with ES's supposed 50% chance to avoid stuns when it's up, I was being framelocked killed nonstop. So I freaked out and had enough, and went and did some research. My only options to remedy this were these things: - Stack health for the sole purpose of not being stunned every hit. - Stack increased stun resist, even though the low health pool would make that still extremely inefficient. - Stack both for an actual effect to be seen, but at that point, why am I CI? - Get stun immunity. And those options were as follows: - Lioneye's boots (no, because I won't be able to have "low life" - Unwavering Stance (no, that's way too far away for a Shadow to viably get) - Eye of Chayula (extraordinarily weak stats outside of the stun immunity) I did end up going with Chayula. And even though its stats are hella weak, I DO have to say it's probably the best thing I've ever bought. The ability to rely on my 40%+ dodge and 40%+ block without worrying about it framelocking me has made me FINALLY able to release my DPS, and FINALLY able to survive without playing the "1 at a time" game. (And then when I got Flicker Strike, oh man, forget about it.) But I don't know. I still miss having an actual necklace, because it's an extremely powerful slot to not be getting stats from. I suppose "Cannot Be Stunned" is indeed a powerful stat, but... I dunno. I guess that's why I'm here asking what you guys think. I also would wager that slapping on a Chayula is not a common idea that crosses people's minds, so I'm curious what the general consensus is overall here. And then there's the fact that elemental status effects work the same way as stuns. Freeze immunity feels necessary as well, or else you're going to be even worse off than being framelocked with stuns. You'll also get shocked and burned like it's nothing too, but at LEAST you still get to play your character under those ailments (arguable with shock even still, and unfortunately using a Tricorne is pushing your luck). cannot be stunnand and cannot be frozen is required by anyone who wants to be relatively effective in pvp... anti leech also falls into the same catagory. get use to it or go back to pve. i use wanderlust boots in pvp and im a blood magic build lol, if you see the stats on the boots they are not very favorable to people who have no use for ES/mana, but if i dont use them any cold user (which there are MANY) will be able to kill me no problem.

" Yeah, I actually do intend to go PvP. Although my stun issue is also highly relevant to PvE. Why don't you go Dream Fragments, then? Oh - wait... I just looked up Wanderlust... That's strange, I could have SWORN all it did was halve freeze time on you, not make you immune. That changes things a little bit, but I'd have to weigh out what would get me more worthwhile stats. Freeing up my boots slot, or freeing up my ring slot. (Plus I would go Sin Trek, and that would prevent life leech as you say.) But I also have NO idea what the PvP field is like, so I suppose it's possible that gear swaps is viable, much like how abundant it was in Diablo 2. |

Actually going from shadow tree to Unwavering Stance is quite viable, for instance, seeing as you are daggers, go from shadow to US and Iron Reflexes, and while you are at it, grab berzerking and maybe the diamond skin and new melee and mana regen nodes in duelist tree. Its 100% viable, and sacrifices only some dps to increase your survivability majorly.

" the reason for me not picking up dream frags is pretty simple, just like wanderlust its completely made for mana users, so there would be no point for me to spend more on a ring that does the same thing as wanderlust. also id say a ring slot is more beneficial overall, but most casters/CI people tend to use dream frags/sin trek/eye since it gives you an unreachable skill point, allowing you to stat more into pure ES/crits. Chayula good, but lazhwar better.
http://en.pathofexilewiki.com/wiki/Blocking http://en.pathofexilewiki.com/wiki/Stun " So you need shield tank, nice armor, 80+ res or endurance charges. And you need "Avoid Cast Interruption" - 25% chance ignore stun, while casting @hasyou 1-80lvl solo game Witch

Defender effective max life does not calculate Energy Shield.

Uhhhhhhhh my god... Getting Unwavering would either cost me several Exalts in Regrets, or a reroll... I REALLY don't feel like doing either of the two...

I might Regret. I can afford it, but not happily :/
Would a final build like this look good? http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgYA_5MeGjBUmVcoKrVIsbPtQaZ_h9vrY3WK1AURL7b3mZqIa-OEDkinNDY9pcsM8gW1tMUrCsEA2xoQe_VLvjrC7EcGX2rsGMNtwcUsv4auFdfXhlZjjb9RRzB8fyt313RBFHUOrSmlQ5wY23TxnrkhYECg704yCSi1YIhhUp_LLIVaGrZBapPV7cAP0k2-p25pxLjV-ITZWNtT35uDrK_nkcOGVamXtKy6Jd8b-qQZHoFLjf8ciEKQG3BWmhPb1H_GflmsZth2LOGOihGWVuoFfZfQVvW5PttufePAUXDVcFLz6k-_Q1Qd2Sepzeo-z73m I'm just not a fan of dropping damage... I know tank is the name of this game, but meh... Doesn't make it any more fun. |
